Most fitness professionals don’t fail because they lack coaching skills. They struggle because no one taught them how to build a business.
Certification programs do a great job teaching exercise science and coaching fundamentals, but often leave new trainers to figure out client acquisition, marketing, and business development on their own.
The conversation in Dr. John Rusin’s comments reinforced what many experienced coaches already know: success in this industry isn’t just about programming and client results. It’s about sales, marketing, client retention, communication, positioning, and creating a sustainable business model.
Too many talented fitness professionals leave the industry not because they’re bad coaches, but because they were never given the business skills needed to thrive.
That’s exactly why I’ve created my Business Fundamentals Program, launching this September.
Drawing on decades of experience in sales, marketing, business development, and entrepreneurship, I’ll help fitness professionals build the foundation needed to grow sustainably, attract the right clients, and create a business that supports the life they want.
