We love Dr. Pegah, and judging by that very big smile, this little one may agree.

Dr. Pegah Hajizargarbashi provides gentle, evidence-based chiropractic care for babies and families at Oona Newmarket, with a special interest in prenatal and postpartum wellness. She is trained in the Webster Technique to support comfort and pelvic function during pregnancy, including when a baby is breech or in another less-than-ideal position, and also provides therapeutic ultrasound for blocked milk ducts.

Looking for a paediatric, prenatal or postpartum chiropractor in Newmarket? Book directly with Dr. Pegah through the link in our bio. No referral is needed, and new patients are welcome.

Pregnancy has a way of introducing you to a version of your body you've never met before.

One week you're walking the dog, carrying groceries, and getting comfortable on the couch without giving it a second thought. A few weeks later, rolling over in bed takes planning, your hips start talking to you on your evening walk, and getting into the car suddenly feels like more effort than it should.

Most of us expect our bodies to change during pregnancy. What catches us off guard is how quickly those changes begin to influence everyday life.

The important thing to know is that feeling different doesn't automatically mean you have to simply live with it.

As your baby grows, your centre of gravity shifts, your rib cage expands, your pelvis begins preparing for birth, and muscles that have quietly supported you for years are asked to do a completely different job. Pregnancy asks an extraordinary amount of your body.

At Oona, we hear every day from people who thought pelvic pain, back pain, rib discomfort, or difficulty moving was "just part of pregnancy." Sometimes those changes are expected, but there is often more we can do to help you move more comfortably and feel more supported throughout your pregnancy.

Our pregnancy chiropractors work closely with our pelvic floor physiotherapists, massage therapists, naturopathic doctors, osteopaths, and acupuncturists to create a care plan that's built around you. Because the best care isn't about fitting you into one service. It's about finding the right combination of support for your body, your pregnancy, and your goals.

Whether you're in your first trimester or counting down the final weeks, you don't need a referral to get started, and if you're not sure where to begin, our free Care Navigator call can help point you in the right direction. Link is in our bio. 🧡

You’re not imagining it, and you’re not too young for this to be perimenopause.

Most of us were handed one very narrow picture of perimenopause: hot flashes, missed periods and something that happens in your fifties. So when it arrives as broken sleep, a shorter fuse, a cycle that suddenly has a mind of its own, anxiety that feels unfamiliar or brain fog you cannot quite shake, it is very easy to blame stress, ageing or ourselves.

Perimenopause is the season of hormonal change leading up to menopause. It often begins in your forties, although changes can start in your late thirties, and it may begin years before your final period.

What makes it especially confusing is that estrogen and progesterone do not simply decline in a neat, predictable line. They can fluctuate significantly, which is why the early signs may feel random, disconnected and easy to dismiss. A change in your menstrual cycle is often one of the first clues, long before the hot flashes many of us were taught to expect.

We hear versions of this story at Oona all the time, and understanding what is happening can be an enormous relief. You are not suddenly failing at sleep, stress or life. Your body may be moving through a real hormonal transition, and you deserve care that looks at the full picture.

Dr. Erica Nikiforuk, ND, RAc, supports patients with perimenopause and hormonal health concerns at Oona. She can help you understand the changes you are noticing and build an individualized care plan based on your health, history and goals.

If this sounds familiar, book directly with Dr. Erica through the link in our bio. No referral is needed, and new patients are welcome.

Every birth story is different, but feeling prepared can make all the difference.

One of the biggest misconceptions about childbirth education is that it's about memorizing what happens during labour. The best classes do so much more. They help you understand what's happening in your body, learn practical ways to stay calm and comfortable, and head into birth feeling more confident, informed, and connected.

Our five week HypnoBirthing® Childbirth Education Class combines evidence based childbirth education with breathing, relaxation, visualization, and practical comfort techniques that you can practise before your baby's birth. Your birth partner is included too, so you'll learn together and feel supported every step of the way.

Families often tell us they leave feeling less anxious, more connected, and genuinely excited to meet their baby.

The next Toronto series begins Thursday, August 6.

For a limited time, use code HB10off (case sensitive) to save 10%, that's more than $40 off your registration.

There are plenty of gifts for the baby. These are for the person growing, feeding and recovering from one.

Dr. Alexsia Priolo, Naturopathic Doctor, Acupuncture Provider and mom of two, is sharing four of her favourite pregnancy and postpartum products, including a few she relied on herself:

Belly Jelly, a rich, deeply moisturizing balm for dry, stretching or itchy skin during pregnancy.

The Haakaa silicone breast pump, a simple way to collect milk during letdown and gently express milk when needed, without cords or complicated parts.

Our caffeine-free creamy vanilla rooibos red raspberry leaf tea, an Oona and Pluck Tea blend that may be considered later in pregnancy as part of birth preparation. Always check with your healthcare provider before using red raspberry leaf tea during pregnancy.

Frida Mom Instant Ice Maxi Pads, which combine an absorbent postpartum pad with instant cooling relief. No freezer or homemade padsicles required, which can be especially helpful when you already have enough to prepare for.

Useful, thoughtful and chosen by someone who understands pregnancy and postpartum care both professionally and personally. You can find all four products at our Oona clinics in Toronto and Newmarket.

Save this for your own pregnancy or postpartum list, or send it to the person who keeps asking what you would actually like.

“I wish I had a village.”

We hear this so often from new parents, because somewhere along the way, raising a family became something people were expected to piece together on their own.

A village used to mean someone checking in, sharing a meal, holding the baby while you took a breath and answering the questions that somehow always arrive at 2 a.m. Social media can offer plenty of information, but it cannot sit beside you, get to know your family or make the care around you feel truly connected.

That is why Oona was never meant to be a collection of separate appointments. We want your chiropractor speaking with your pelvic floor physiotherapist, your lactation consultant working alongside your baby’s osteopath, and your mental health therapist, naturopathic doctor and paediatric team understanding the bigger picture.

Sometimes your village begins in a treatment room. Sometimes it happens in one of our prenatal or parent and baby classes, where families can learn together, ask real questions and meet people in the very same season of life.

The village may look different now, but the need for one has never gone away. We built Oona to help families find theirs.

Some appointments become part of a much bigger story. 🧡

A very Oona moment with Carla Dayon, Registered Massage Therapist at Oona Newmarket, and her beautiful client. Carla brings so much care to every appointment and, as you can see, she may get just a little attached to the littlest clients before they even arrive.

Thank you, Carla, for caring so deeply, and thank you to your lovely client for letting us share this incredibly sweet moment.

Postpartum has a way of changing what counts as a win.

Some days, a warm meal, a few minutes outside, accepting help, or finding a little time to look after yourself can feel like the biggest accomplishments of all.

Those moments may seem small, but they matter. They are part of recovery, part of healing, and part of finding your way through one of life's biggest transitions.

At Oona, we believe postpartum deserves care, too. Whether you're recovering physically, navigating feeding, adjusting emotionally, or simply wondering if what you're experiencing is normal, we're here to help.

No referral is needed. You can book directly with one of our practitioners or start with a free Care Navigator call to find the support that's right for you.

Some practitioners have a way of making you feel at ease from the moment you meet them. They listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and create a plan that feels tailored to you. That is exactly what we think you'll find with Pooneh.

We are so happy to welcome Pooneh Ghodrat, Pelvic and Orthopaedic Physiotherapist & Acupuncturist, to Oona Newmarket.

With more than 28 years of experience, Pooneh supports people through pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and every season that follows, while also helping with a wide range of pelvic health and orthopaedic concerns. Her practice includes pelvic girdle pain, diastasis recti, urinary incontinence, chronic pain, and neck and back discomfort. When appropriate, she also integrates acupuncture to help reduce pain, ease muscle tension, and support healing.

Whether you're looking for pelvic floor physiotherapy in Newmarket, treatment for back or neck pain, support during pregnancy, or help recovering after birth, Pooneh believes great care starts by understanding your goals, your story, and what matters most to you.

We can't wait for our Newmarket community, and families across Aurora, Bradford, East Gwillimbury, Stouffville, Markham, Barrie, and the surrounding area, to meet her.

Appointments are now available at Oona Newmarket. Book online today the link is in our bio, or if you're not sure where to begin, our free 20 minute Care Navigator call can help you find the right place to start.

Every pregnancy is different, but one thing remains the same. Your body is doing an extraordinary amount of work.

Back discomfort, pelvic pain, sore ribs, leaking, wrist pain, muscle tension, reflux, leg cramps or simply feeling like your body isn't moving the way it used to are all conversations we have every day at Oona. While many of these concerns are common during pregnancy, they are not something you have to quietly accept without support.

One of the most important things we want families to know is that there isn't one right kind of pregnancy care. Sometimes chiropractic care is the best fit. Sometimes pelvic floor physiotherapy makes the biggest difference. Other times massage therapy, naturopathic medicine, osteopathy, acupuncture or a prenatal class is exactly what someone needs. More often than not, it's a combination of care that evolves as pregnancy does.

That's why we built Oona around collaboration. Our practitioners work together, share knowledge and focus on what will best support you, not just during one appointment, but throughout your pregnancy.

You can book directly with any of our practitioners at our Toronto or Newmarket clinics, and no referral is necessary. If you're not sure where to begin, our free Care Navigator call can help you find the right place to start.

Book your appointment through the link in our bio. Whenever you're ready, we'll be here.
