For me, yoga practice should make you more capable everywhere, not just on the mat. It should sharpen how you see yourself and also let you hold that lightly.
There’s a duality in all of us, the drive to accomplish things and the ease of just sitting outside on a good day. Practice is what lets you feel both without picking one.
Poses are just the starting point. They measure where you are against a shape, but the real work is what the shape asks of you underneath: do I have the strength here, the range, the coordination?
Most people try to get better at a pose by doing more of that pose but it rarely works that way. If you want a bigger jumpback, you don’t drill jumpbacks, you build push strength through chaturanga holds and push-ups until the movement is simply available to you.
That’s the method behind the whole practice: find the actual requirement, build toward it with intention, and let the pose become the byproduct instead of the goal.
Is there a yoga pose you want to be able to do? I can help. DM me and let’s get started!
