Arterial Supply of the Spinal Cord

The spinal cord receives a rich arterial network from the vertebral and subclavian arterial systems, reinforced by segmental radiculomedullary and radicular arteries. The anterior and posterior spinal arteries run longitudinally along the cord, while radiculomedullary arteries enter through the intervertebral foramina to reinforce the spinal circulation.

A major vessel is the artery of Adamkiewicz, usually arising around T9–T12, providing an important contribution to the blood supply of the lower thoracic and lumbosacral spinal cord.
