Wishing everyone a spook-tacular Halloween filled with plenty of treats, fun costumes, and hopefully no tricks on your muscles! πŸ˜‚

Remember to take care of yourself while you're out haunting the neighbourhood tonight! Stay warm, stay safe, and watch out for those candy-induced sugar crashes. πŸ«πŸ‘»

And if carrying around a giant bag of Halloween candy leaves your shoulders, neck or back feeling a little haunted… you know where to find me! πŸ‘€πŸ’†β€β™€οΈ

😴 Tired isn't always fixed by "just getting more sleep."

Stress, poor sleep, demanding work, chronic pain, and many health conditions can leave you feeling physically and mentally exhausted.

Massage therapy may help support relaxation by:
✨ Reducing muscle tension
✨ Encouraging a calmer nervous-system response
✨ Supporting relaxation before sleep
✨ Providing time away from daily stressors
✨ Helping you feel more comfortable in your body

But persistent or unexplained fatigue shouldn't automatically be blamed on stress.

If you're experiencing ongoing, unexplained fatigue, talk with your healthcare provider to determine what's causing it.

And if massage is appropriate for you, your RMT can adjust the treatment based on your energy level that day.

Some days your body needs deep pressure.
Some days it needs "please don't make me do anything" pressure. πŸ˜‚

πŸ’ͺ That tendon has entered its "please stop doing that" era.

Tendinitis refers to irritation and pain involving a tendon, often associated with repetitive loading or overuse.

It commonly affects areas such as the:
β€’ Shoulder
β€’ Elbow
β€’ Wrist
β€’ Knee
β€’ Achilles tendon

Massage therapy isn't a treatment for the tendon injury itself, but it may help address surrounding muscle tension and movement restrictions that can contribute to discomfort.

Depending on the stage and severity of the injury, your RMT may modify treatment or avoid directly working over an irritated area.

πŸ’™ More pressure isn't always better.

When it comes to an irritated tendon, the goal isn't to "dig it out." Your treatment should respect the injury and work within what your body can tolerate.

🦡 That pain shooting down your leg? Your sciatic nerve may have something to say about it.

"Sciatica" describes pain caused by irritation or compression of the sciatic nerve, often felt through the low back, buttock, and down the leg.

Massage therapy doesn't decompress a nerve or fix the underlying cause of sciatica, but it may help address surrounding muscular tension and discomfort.

Treatment may focus on areas such as:
✨ Glutes
✨ Hips
✨ Low back
✨ Hamstrings
✨ Legs

The important part? **Not every case of leg pain is sciatica.**

If you have significant weakness, loss of sensation, changes in bladder or bowel control, or severe/worsening symptoms, medical assessment is important.

Your RMT can work alongside your healthcare team to help manage muscular components of your symptoms. πŸ’™

πŸ‚πŸ¦ƒ Happy Thanksgiving! πŸ¦ƒπŸ‚

As we head into the Thanksgiving weekend, I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to all of my amazing clients! πŸ’†β€β™€οΈβ€οΈ

Thank you for trusting me with your care, for supporting my career, and for allowing me to do a job that I truly love. I’m so grateful for each and every one of you!

Whether your weekend is filled with family, friends, good food, or just some much-needed downtime, I hope you have a safe, relaxing and pain-free Thanksgiving! πŸ˜„

And remember… if you eat a little too much turkey, I won't judge. πŸ¦ƒ

Happy Thanksgiving! 🍁

🧠 Your brain might be the one causing the headache… but your neck and shoulders may be joining the party.

Headaches and migraines can have many different causes, and they're not all related to muscle tension. However, tension in the neck, shoulders, jaw, and upper back can contribute to certain types of headaches and may make existing symptoms feel worse.

Massage therapy may help by:
✨ Reducing muscle tension
✨ Improving neck and shoulder mobility
✨ Promoting relaxation
✨ Decreasing stress-related tension
✨ Supporting overall well-being

πŸ’™ Important: Massage isn't appropriate for every headache. If you experience a sudden, severe, or unusual headache, neurological symptoms, or a significant change from your normal pattern, seek medical attention rather than booking a massage.

For recurring headaches, communication with your healthcare provider and your RMT can help determine whether massage may be an appropriate part of your care plan.

🌺 When your period feels like your uterus has a personal vendetta… For people living with endometriosis, period pain isn't simply "bad cramps".

Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside of the uterus. It can contribute to pelvic pain, painful periods, low-back pain, hip discomfort, fatigue, and other symptoms.

Massage therapy doesn't treat or remove endometriosis, but it may help manage some of the muscular tension and discomfort that can accompany it.

Treatment may focus on areas such as:
✨ Low back
✨ Hips and glutes
✨ Abdominal muscles
✨ Organs
✨ Inner thighs
✨ Neck and shoulders

Gentler techniques may be used depending on symptoms and where you're at in your cycle.

πŸ’—Communication is especially important. If you have endometriosis, let your RMT know. We can adjust pressure, positioning, and treatment areas based on how you're feeling that day.

Your pain is real. You don't have to "just deal with it."

πŸ‘ΆYou spent 9 months growing a human… and now you're expected to carry them around all day. Postpartum life can be HARD on your body.

Between feeding, carrying, rocking, lifting, bending, sleeping in weird positions, and spending approximately 47 hours a day looking down at a tiny human… your body can get pretty cranky. πŸ˜‚

Postpartum massage can be tailored to address common areas of muscular tension, including:
✨ Neck & shoulders
✨ Upper back
✨ Low back
✨ Hips & glutes
✨ Arms & hands

Treatment can also be modified depending on whether you've had a vaginal birth, belly birth, or other complications.

πŸ’—Your postpartum body deserves care too.

Before treatment, be sure to tell your RMT about your delivery, recovery, medications, complications, and any areas that are still healing so treatment can be appropriately modified.

Because taking care of yourself isn't selfishβ€”it helps you keep taking care of everyone else. 🌸

🀰Growing a tiny human is hard work. Your back would like to file a complaint. Pregnancy can bring some BIG changes to your body.

As your baby grows, your posture, centre of gravity, muscles, and joints all have to adapt. This can contribute to discomfort in the:
✨ Low back
✨ Hips
✨ Glutes
✨ Legs
✨ Neck and shoulders

Prenatal massage is specifically adapted to accommodate these changes.

Your RMT may modify:
β€’ Positioning, pregnancy pillow or side lying!
β€’ Pressure
β€’ Treatment areas
β€’ Bolstering and support- extra pillowing if needed!
β€’ Length and intensity of treatment

πŸ’—Always let your massage therapist know you're pregnant, even if you aren't showing yet. Your health history helps us determine what modifications are appropriate and whether treatment is suitable/safe for you.

Pregnancy massage isn't about "pushing through" discomfortβ€”it's about creating a safe, comfortable treatment that works with your changing body.

September 11 β€” We Remember. πŸ•ŠοΈ

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the families, friends, first responders, and communities around the United States and Canada forever changed by that day.

More than two decades later, we continue to remember the courage, compassion, and selflessness shown in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

From our little corner of the community, we take a moment today to reflect, remember, and honour those whose lives were affected.

We remember. We honour. We will never forget. πŸ•ŠοΈ
