Do you struggle to put your oxygen mask on first?

I sure have. It’s something I’ve had to work on my entire life. Some times I’m better at it and other times …. I really suck at it. I’ve been coming through a very long season of not putting my oxygen mask on first or even at all!! I’d say to myself “ Why do you do this…you know better…c’mon… you’ve coached over 1000 individuals on being their best selves over what will soon be three decades Tammy and yet here you are flopping around like a fish and a damn mud puddle”. All joking aside ….that’s when I catch myself and I realize that I’ve NEVER been actually where I am in this moment before, and I’ve never actually lived through these experiences before in this way. The losses, the detours, the unexpected, the real Holy @$&t moments that you think no one would believe. Each layer of those moments and living in them…,has revealed new wisdom, skill, insight. I’m grateful for having self awareness, theory of mind and metacognition. I’ve not arrived, and I’m still growing through it all. Some trails of my life have taken me a lot longer to sort through but I think that’s the way it’s supposed to be. I wouldn’t be who I am now if I didn’t do that so I make peace with it. The most important thing….is acceptance.

For the helpers, the healers, the lovers of light and life. You are going to really struggle in some seasons…. And some seasons will really stretch….. that’s OK. You’re going to learn to put fences on your efforts and your extensions …. There will be times that you’re terrible at it…. That’s OK. There’s a powerful shift that happens when you truly recognize and finally accept that some individuals do not want any different. They will not be uncomfortable and be fearful in order to change. They just are….. and….that’s okay. It really is. It’s not about you and it never was. Put your oxygen mask on again and you move forward ❤️

Bottom line….Don’t be blinded by the goals, the hacks, the tips and the tricks. If you’re neglecting your wellNESS and your systems are offline then none of this works. This is ground zero…begin there. Drink an extra glass of water, go to bed 20 minutes sooner, put the phone down, take the stairs, write it down, start taking a daily multivitamin or a superfood. Sit with your child, listen, hug. Just STOP and BREATHE. Put more “NESS” in your wellNESS first. It all starts from there.

Health should go wherever you go.

I might change geography from time to time but there are certain routines that are essential to me.

My supplements go wherever I go. They always have. My selections have evolved over time …. So have I.

As our Body’s age, there are variables that come into to play even more so that impact our body burden and change our requirements for many things. Environmentally, psychologically and physiologically. Requirements change and in your 40s and up… it’s a bit of a moving target 🎯. I don’t know about you ladies, but I especially noticed this after 45. We are all unique in this area.

Some requirements might not be requirements anymore and other ones become critical. It’s about continuing to refine and dial them in so you can be the best version of you. It’s about attunement to you and your rhythm. This clearly goes far beyond only the supplement conversation.

For me… my supplement routine is a critical part of my wellness routine. I provide support, particularly for things that my body does not do well. Example: methylation.

I’ve spent years of my life, coaching and mentoring other high functioning, doers and goers to be the best version of themselves and I’ve been able to see how this plays out in real time.

When people have a great wellness routine and regular strategic supplementation is part of that… They just do way better.

Behaviour is a language in all things and your biology, knows it too. Start with choosing some simple behaviours that lets your body know that you’re here to help…not harm.

Great advice for sport and life from a hockey legend.
There’s a difference between being reactive vs proactive. We can all be reactive and it could save your life. The pros of life know that proactive is what gets you where you want to go. A big part of being proactive, is developing the skill of looking further down the line. Being anticipatory. It’s requires bring present enough to be able to look ahead and know where you want to go, AND being able to look at what could work for you or against you on that path. Then you can adjust as needed. You need this agility. It doesn’t matter what you’re working on in life…this is like an iron rule.

I will let that be what that message can be for you in this moment.

However, the more rooted you are on the inside determines whether these seasons will bring change that helps you or change that hurts you. The tree makes sure it’s roots are strong and that is it’s best chance to whether all seasons and any storm.

Tend to your roots.

Happiness is a choice! We all go through major things in life. Hard things. Very painful things. We must experience these things and grow through them.

We experience the pain and we let it pass. Happiness becomes a daily baseline state because we have consciously created the recipe and we have made an effort to follow that recipe again and again.
That recipe will vary a little bit for everyone. In my experience….it comes at the intersection of presence, intention, gratitude, humbleness, kindness, authenticity and deep appreciation.

Complete truth bomb here.

So what qualities and values do you identify strongly with? What is your cohesive way of being in everyday life that has you at your happiest, healthiest and most fulfilled?

When we are engaged in unproductive, unhealthy or destructive habits some part of your identify aligns with that. You’re behaviours don’t lie.

This is a start point of change. Do a ruthless audit of those behaviours and an even more ruthless audit of what you really believe and value. It will make it much easier to detach and create real change. 😀😀

Me:? 🤯….Heck No!!!

Just one of many things over time that was once deemed perfectly safe by Health Canada and the FDA.…until it wasn’t a long time later.
