I don’t know of any other teachers/therapists facilitating this kind of offering locally, and it is so needed!
If Sherry’s words resonate, take her up on this series...
"I've noticed over the years that for some who have experienced burnout, trauma, chronic stress and even syndromes like chronic pain, PTSD, chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia, the intense sensation of typical strength work, increase in heart rate etc can feel overwhelming, it's too much too soon. In this class we will 'titrate' the strength elements little bits at a time, inviting moments of for rest and recovery, between movements and slowly build our capacity for intensity over time.
This class blends elements of Somatics, restorative Pilates, breath, mobility, and a supported rest (savasana) to integrate the work. There will be emphasis on finding 'the stack' between pelvis and rib cage to allow the breath to move with more ease within our bodies. There will be generous use of props to support the body as needed. The group will be kept small for greater attention to detail, while also emphasizing social engagement which is really important for our nervous system."

I'm going to offer one more of these sessions for 4 weeks at Lokamotion studio, Thursdays at 6:30pm . As some of you know I've been studying Somatic Experiencing the last 3 years (one more module and I'm done!) as well as a deep dive into core and pelvic floor work by finally doing my Pilates training last fall, as well as Restore Your Core professional training the last 9 months. While I've always noticed how much better I feel when I include Pilates in my practice, it was the regression of the exercises in to smaller more manageable movements that was a game changer for body and mind.
In this class we will dial things way back both to better work with our compensation patterns and to address the overwhelm that can sometimes go along with the intense sensations that can show up with exercise.
There will be lots of opportunity to rest and regulate using somatic practices, while slowly increasing our nervous system capacity through movement.
This group will be kept very small, intentionally, with just 6 spaces available.
