busiest lil month! 🥰

I spent almost all of August detoxing from social media + have been focusing on family time, being present, + enjoying the little things :)

Switched up monthly goals for monthly ins + outs!

August ins:

- Irish goodbyes
- Trying viral recipes
- Loving the fact that it’s “Augtober.” :)
- Candles!!!
- Happy hour activities + home by 8 pm
- Spending time by the water
- Running for the fun of it (who cares about pace?)
- Fresh flowers every week
- Weekly yap sessions with the girls
- Building my massage therapy practice
- Learning something new

August outs:

- Apologizing for being myself
- Impulse purchases
- Feeling guilty for saying no
- Surtace level anything
- Unsolicited opinions
- Excessive caffeine
- Burn out
- Clutter
- Girl dinner (making myself a proper meal from now on!)
- Not following my intuition

I just finished up with a client referred to me by one of our physiotherapists for persistent hip pain. This was our second treatment together. I brought this client’s pain down from an 8/10 to a 5/10 by performing a favourite of mine - psoas release. During this particular treatment, we started talking more, and they casually mentioned struggling with IBS.

That changed the conversation.

Many people don’t realize that the digestive system and the musculoskeletal system are more connected than they seem. The psoas muscle sits deep in the abdomen, right beside the intestines. When the gut is irritated - from IBS, chronic bloating, or inflammation - the body can respond by creating protective muscle tension around the area.

Sometimes what feels like a stubborn “tight hip flexor” isn’t simply a muscle that needs stretching. It can be the body’s way of protecting an irritated system.

This doesn’t mean IBS causes all psoas pain, or that every case of hip pain originates in the gut. But it’s a great reminder that effective treatment starts with looking at the whole person…not just the area that hurts.

As massage therapists, we don’t treat IBS. But understanding how different body systems influence one another allows us to provide more informed care and collaborate with other healthcare professionals when appropriate.

Your body is always communicating. Sometimes the source of pain isn’t where you expect it to be.

Shared on TT a long time ago and thought I’d share this amazing recipe here too! It’s so good + so simple. If you have leftovers you can bake it in a dish and eat it as a dip! Soooo good with tortilla chips :)

You’ll need:
35-45 small white mushrooms (stems removed)
2 blocks of softened cream cheese
4 cans of drained crab meat
6 tbsp chopped parsley
6 chopped green onions
3/4 tsp kinders “the blend”
3/4-1 cup shredded Parmesan
Some gluten free seasoned breadcrumbs for the topping

How to:
Clean mushrooms and remove stems. Place softened cream cheese in a bowl and mix until smooth. Add crab meat, parsley, onions, seasoning, and parm to the bowl and mix.
Spoon mixture into prepared mushrooms then top with a bit of gluten free bread crumbs.
Place in 375f oven for 20-25 minutes!

Every person who lies on this table brings something different with them.

Some come in with pain they’ve been living with for years. Some are training hard and trying to recover well. Some just need an hour where they don’t have to be “on” for everyone else.

As an RMT, I get to be a small part of each person’s story. Whether it’s helping you move with less pain, recover faster, or simply giving your nervous system a chance to slow down, it’s a privilege I never take for granted.
