You think you're dealing witha. communication issue, but most couples are actually stuck in a pursuer/withdrawer dynamic.

One moves toward and one moves away.

Understanding the "why" behind that is where things start to change.

And, then, at some point, you stop bringing things up altogether.

Not because you don’t care, but because it doesn’t feel worth it.

What starts as a conversation quickly becomes defensiveness, misunderstanding, or shutdown. And before you know it, you’re not even talking about the original issue anymore.

These patterns aren't random; they're rooted in deeper patterns, old wounds, and protective responses. The parts of you that learned, a long time ago, how to stay safe in moments of tension.

So when something feels off in your relationship, it’s not just about what’s happening now; it’s about what it touches. And without a different way of communicating, those patterns repeat.

The goal isn’t to stop conflict altogether; it’s to change how you move through it.

When communication shifts, everything else can start to shift with it. You’re not “bad at communicating.” You’ve just never been shown a different way.

If you're curious about Couples Therapy, check out our website and book a session. It can't hurt!

We’re quick to label our partner as mean or cruel, when often, we’re seeing them in protection.

But, those reactions are rarely random. They’re shaped by old wounds, defenses, and learned ways of staying safe.

Maybe the way it feels is not the way it is intended, so let's figure out the intention.

In couples therapy, two therapists creates balance.

Relationships happen between two people, with two experiences, two perspectives, and two nervous systems reacting in real time. Co-therapy allows us to hold space for both of you, equally.

While one therapist tracks the dynamic, the other can stay closely attuned to each individual experience. We’re able to slow things down, catch patterns as they happen, and guide the conversation so neither person gets lost, dismissed, or overwhelmed.

We don't take sides; we hold both sides at the same time.

The goal is always to move from reactivity to understanding. And having two therapists in the room helps create the structure and safety needed for that to happen.

It allows for deeper work, more presence, and a stronger container for conversations that don’t always feel easy to have.

You're committed to your relationship and we want to help you make it the best relationship you've ever had!

We’re often drawn into familiar patterns, even when they hurt.

You avoid the conversation, but then feel unseen.
You shut down, and then feel disconnected.
You push for answers, and end up creating distance.
You don't behave in a certain way because you want the obvious outcome - you behave in a ceratin way because it’s a pattern your system knows.

The goal isn’t to blame the person - it’s to become aware of it.

Once you can see the pattern, you can start to choose something different.

There’s no resort. No distractions. No quick fixes.

Instead, it’s real real conversations, real wounds, and real moments where things get uncomfortable before they get better.

It can feel really hard to feel heard, even when you’re both trying.

Couples therapy might not be tropical, but it gives you something way brighter: a future!

In couples therapy, we’re not here to decide who’s right.

We’re here to look at what’s happening between you. And, you might not love hearing it, but, usually, you both play a role in the state of your relationship. Not in a blaming way, but in a co-created way.

The dynamic you’re in didn’t just appear. It was built, over time, through reactions, protections, misattunements, and unmet needs.

For example, one partner pursues and the other withdraws. One raises their voice and the other shuts down. And the cycle continues.

So, the focus isn’t on “who started it”. The focus is on how the pattern keeps going. And, assuming the pattern is "co-created", it can also be shifted, together.

The work starts when you can understand your individual impact and then learning how to respond differently, even when it’s hard.

Thought challenge: what role do you play in your relationship struggles?
