⚖️What is the Balance Program?

The Balance Program is a parent-supported approach that helps children build stronger relationships, communication, cooperation, and everyday life skills.

The main goal is to create a balance between child-led and adult-led time, while reducing challenging behaviours through teaching, prevention, and connection.

Through short and consistent practice, parents learn strategies to support trust, shared control, tolerance, and daily success.

At CoLeap, we have a consultant with Balance Program credentials and are excited to support families with this approach.

📚 What is Orton-Gillingham?

✨ What is PEERS®?

PEERS® is an evidence-based social skills program that helps children build meaningful connections with others.

For preschool-aged children, PEERS focuses on foundational skills such as starting interactions, joining in play, sharing interests, being a good friend, and navigating big feelings.

At Coleap, we have BCBAs certified in PEERS® and are excited to bring these strategies to the families we support. Our goal is to help our learners build confidence, connection, and relationships in ways that feel meaningful to them.

Have questions about PEERS®? We'd love to chat!

Circle of Security Parenting™ is a simple, attachment-based framework that helps caregivers better understand and respond to children’s needs. Children move between exploring the world and coming back for comfort, safety, and connection.

The core ideas of Circle of Security include:

💜 Secure Base: Supporting children as they explore, learn, and build confidence.
💗 Safe Haven: Offering comfort, protection, and help with big feelings.

ESDM is a fantastic, evidence-based approach designed specifically for early intervention (ages 1-4). Because young children learn best through play and interaction, ESDM doesn’t look like “work.” Instead, our practitioners embed developmental goals and behavioral principles right into natural play, daily routines, and shared activities.

The core principals of ESDM include:
🍎Relationship-focused: It prioritizes building a strong, trusting connection between the child and the practitioner or parent.
🍎Child-led: We follow your child’s natural interests to make learning highly motivating and fun.
🍎Comprehensive: It targets multiple areas of development at once, including communication, social skills, and cognition.

If you are curious about whether ESDM might be a good fit for your toddler’s current developmental stage, please feel free to reach out to us!

☀️ Precursor behaviours are early signs that a child may be getting overwhelmed.

Noticing them early helps us adjust expectations, lower demands, and support the child before the behaviour escalates.

Connection lays the foundation for growth.
When children feel understood and supported, learning follows naturally.
It’s not about perfection—it’s about being there, again and again. 💛

🌷 Spring Break Tips for Families 🌷
Spring break is a great time to relax and enjoy extra family time. Changes in routine can sometimes be challenging for children, so here are a few simple tips to help the week go smoothly:

• Keep a loose routine – Try to maintain similar wake-up, meal, and bedtime schedules.

• Plan simple activities – Crafts, puzzles, outdoor play, or games can help keep children engaged.

•Practice patience and flexibility - This will make transition back to school a little easier

• Include outdoor time – Fresh air and movement can help children regulate their energy.

Enjoy the break and make the most of the extra time together! 🌸
