Agriculture has served as a strong foundation for Taiwan's economic miracle. Since 1945, Taiwan has demonstrated developing industry through agriculture, and developing agriculture through industry. Taiwan's main crops are rice, sugar cane, fruits (many of them tropical), and vegetables. Recently, the rising awareness of depleted fertile land due to intensive production has prompted the farmers to seek for more sustainable farming practices. Nevertheless, there have always been a small group of farmers who faithfully practice sustainable agriculture, but were challenged with the international market competition. Hence, many of the practical and enlightening resources for modern sustainable agriculture come from those experienced farmers. With the effort of documenting the disappearing knowledge, this platform will serve to provide the most up-to-date farming practices in Taiwan. Furthermore, some exciting events will also be showcased here periodically.
