I’ve been asked 4 times recently…

“If my husband helps me with all the tech in my business.”

😂

Nope. Hi. It’s me.

The website.
The email funnels.
The automations.
The payment systems.
The landing pages.
The program platform.
The troubleshooting when something inevitably breaks…I’ve even had to do several password resets for customers!!

I know I’m not an expert at all of it. I’ve managed to figure out enough to make it work.

And while I’ll admit I’m a little annoyed by the assumption…

Mostly, it’s made me realize how proud I am of how much I’ve learned.

Because when I started my business, I was a dietitian.

I never expected I’d also become
a website builder,
email marketer,
tech troubleshooter,
SEO learner,
program creator…

…and so many other things I never knew I’d need to know. I even know how to automate a response to a reel, WITHOUT using ManyChat!!😂

I didn’t know how to do ANY of this when I started.

I just kept figuring it out. AND I still am!😂

But you know what!?!

I’m pretty damn proud of that. ❤️ #

If you have prediabetes, here’s a surprisingly simple way to reduce the blood sugar rise from a meal: change the order you eat your food.

Research in people with prediabetes and type 2 diabetes has found that eating non-starchy vegetables and protein before your carbohydrate foods can reduce the rise in blood sugar after a meal - even when you’re eating the same foods.

It’s called food sequencing, and it’s a simple strategy you can try without changing the foods you eat.

Here’s how to try it:

1. Start with non-starchy vegetables
Think salad, broccoli, asparagus, peppers or other vegetables.

2. Eat your protein
Chicken, fish, tofu, eggs, beans, etc.

3. Finish with your carbohydrate foods
Rice, potatoes, pasta, bread or fruit.

The research suggests that putting carbohydrate foods later in the meal can blunt the post-meal blood sugar rise compared with eating the carbohydrate first in people with prediabetes and type 2 diabetes.

And that’s what makes this strategy so practical: you don’t need to cook a separate meal, eliminate your favourite foods, or eat “perfectly.” You can simply experiment with changing the order of the foods already on your plate.

Save this post and try it with your next meal.

If you have prediabetes, have you ever noticed when you eat a “healthy” apple or a bowl of oatmeal, you wind up feeling hungry, maybe even shaky, or craving a chocolate bar exactly 60 minutes later?

Know that you are not failing and your willpower is not broken. But your pairing is just a little off!

Carbs are fast energy. When you eat them entirely by themselves (what I call a “naked carb”), your body digests them super quickly. Your blood sugar rises quickly, giving you a quick burst of energy, and then it may dip just as quickly. That decrease in blood sugar is exactly why you may
feel empty and hungry again so soon.

The secret? Give your carbs a buddy - and protein in the perfect buddy.

When you pair a carbohydrate with a high-quality protein, you can smooth out your blood sugar curve, and therefore your energy. Protein is more difficult to digest and therefore slows down total digestion and the release of glucose into your bloodstream.

This gives you:

- Sustained, steady energy (yay - no afternoon slumps!)
- Satiety (or fullness) that actually lasts until your next meal
- Way fewer intense, sudden sugar cravings

Quick pairings to try today:

Apple ➡ Add a handful of nuts or a hardboiled egg
Oatmeal ➡ Stir in a scoop of protein powder or h**p seeds
Rice crackers ➡ Top with tuna salad or cottage cheese

What is your favorite way to pair your carbs? Let’s chat in the comments!

Stop cutting out carbs - use your hand instead!
If you’re trying to cut every carbohydrate out of your life, please stop!!! While cutting carbs may seem like a quick fix, it often isn’t a sustainable long-term strategy.
Carbohydrates are your preferred source of energy, especially for your brain & muscles.
When we eliminate them completely we may miss out on important nutrients like fiber, vitamins, and minerals, and it can make healthy feel eating, feel so much harder to maintain.
The goal isn’t no carbs… It’s choosing the right portions and pairing them with protein and fibre to support steady blood sugars.
So you don’t need to restrict them. You just need to size them to you!
When we cut out carbs entirely, we lack the necessary fuel for our body and end up feeling exhausted and fighting intense cravings in the afternoon AND pre-dinner.
Instead of living in a state of restriction, use this simple, built-in tool that goes everywhere with you. Your HAND!
As a general starting point, a single serving of complex carbohydrates (like brown rice, sweet potatoes, or quinoa) should be roughly the size of your closed fist.
And we all have different size fists for our different sized bodies! Just think - Michael Jordan’s fist would be way bigger than mine!
This gives your brain and muscles the energy they need to thrive, without sending your blood sugar on a wild roller coaster ride. Without
No kitchen scales, no measuring cups, no tracking apps, AND no food anxiety required.
Drop a 🖐 in the comments if you’re ready to stop stressing over measurements and start trusting your body again!
