Things high-achieving women say…
“I’m fine.”
“It’s just a busy season.”
“Everyone needs me.”
“I’ll rest later.”
And sometimes, those words are true.
But sometimes, they are not the truth.
Sometimes, they are survival scripts.
“I’m fine” may actually mean:
I don’t know how to explain how much I’m carrying.
“It’s just a busy season” may mean:
I have normalized living in pressure for so long that I no longer question it.
“Everyone needs me” may mean:
I feel valuable when I’m needed, even when it costs me myself.
“I’ll rest later” may mean:
I do not feel safe slowing down because everything depends on me.
For many high-achieving women, the identity shift begins when you stop defending the pattern and start listening to what your words are revealing.
Because the phrases you repeat often point to the places where you have learned to over-function, self-abandon, and disappear behind responsibility.
This is not about blaming yourself.
It is about noticing where survival became your identity.
If you have ever said “I’m fine” when you were actually overwhelmed, this is for you.
If you have called it “a busy season” even though the pressure never really ends, this is for you.
If you are tired of being needed more than you are known, this is for you.
Save this as a reminder that your words may be showing you where the deeper work begins.
