Good day to my fellow Community Health Representatives and Health Directors,
My apologies for the delay in sending this update. I would also like to extend a warm welcome to those who are new to attending the CHR Refresher. I encourage you to follow our page ‘Saskatchewan Association of Community Health’ to make sure you stay in the loop and share your knowledge and experiences as a CHR.
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Joanne Buckles, and I am from Cowessess First Nation. I have been a Community Health Representative (CHR) for almost 10 years. At our last CHR Refresher, the CHRs in attendance elected me as President of the CHR Association and Crystal Charles as Secretary.
In addition to electing these positions, we also voted on the dates for upcoming refreshers and the fees associated with these events. As we are a not-for-profit association and do not receive funding from outside organizations, we rely solely on annual membership fees and refresher registration fees to cover our expenses.
In the past, registration fees were refundable. However, we have learned that this can create a financial deficit, as we must book venues and pay for services in advance. As a result, the membership voted that registration fees will no longer be refundable. Registration fees must also be paid at least two weeks prior to the scheduled refresher dates.
Upcoming CHR Refreshers – Saskatoon
2026–2027 Schedule
• October 14, 15, and 16, 2026
• May 12, 13, and 14, 2027
Fees
• Annual Membership Fee: $200.00
• Registration Fee (per refresher – October and May): $400.00
Each May, members will be required to pay both the annual membership fee and the registration fee for the refresher.
If you are attending for the first time in October, you will pay both the annual membership fee and the October registration fee. Beginning the following May, you will continue with the regular annual payment schedule, which includes both the membership fee and the May registration fee.
