Whitewood Fire Department was dispatched to its third call in less than 18 hours. This last call was a motor vehicle vs a bull east of Whitewood on the #1 highway at 12:50 AM. There were no injuries to the driver, the semi unit was severely damaged as it came to rest on the south side of the cp rail tracks. All units were back in service at 02:04

At 5:10 p.m. WFD was dispatched for a mutual aid call with Kennedy Fire Department for a structure fire in the RM of Silverwood. Firefighters battled both extreme heat and difficult conditions to fight and put out the fire. The fire was finally extinguished at approximately 9 p.m. and all units cleared the scene and were back in service at 10:15 p.m. Thanks to all the firefighters from Whitewood and Kennedy for their hard work under difficult conditions.

The 8th annual WFD fundraiser golf tournament on July 18 was a huge success, with just over $29,000 raised for the local department. To date, this tournament has raised just over $150,000 towards building a new fire hall. Thank you to everyone who came out and golfed, to the sponsors and to people who donated, and to the volunteers who gave up their Saturday to help with the tournament. A special thank you to all our firefighters for the countless hours spent over the last 4 months planning and organizing this event and for putting on another successful tournament. WFD is proud to be part of such an amazing community that continually supports our department.
