The comment section accidentally became a psychology lesson. 🧠

I posted a funny Reel about dating.

Almost 100,000 views later, something interesting happened. 🤔

Women flooded the comments saying some version of:

“YES. I’ve experienced this.”

And a bunch of men responded by telling me I’m washed up, rating my appearance, insulting my age, or explaining why a man wouldn’t want me anyway. 😂

And as a coach, THAT is way more interesting to me than the original Reel. 🤓

Because nobody asked whether I was attractive.

Nobody asked anyone to rate me.

Nobody said all men behave this way.

Nobody said it was about a specific person.

And yet some people felt such a strong need to defend themselves that they immediately went on the attack.

That’s what triggers can look like.

Sometimes when something touches an insecurity, belief, or experience we don’t want to examine, we don’t get curious.

We get defensive.

We discredit the messenger.

We attack their appearance.

We explain why they’re the problem.

Because if I can make you wrong, stupid, ugly, crazy, dramatic, or unworthy…

I never have to ask myself why what you said bothered me so fu***ng much.

And this isn’t a male problem.

Humans do this. Women too!

In relationships.
At work.
With money.
With family.
Online.

We spend an unbelievable amount of energy defending the parts of ourselves we might actually need to examine.

So the next time something pi**es you off, before immediately deciding the other person is wrong, ask yourself:

“What exactly about this hit a nerve in me?”

You don’t have to agree with them.

But your reaction might teach you something about yourself.

That’s where the real work starts.

I like to joke and make silly viral reels about my independence.

But hyper-independence may look like strength from the outside.

“I don’t need anyone.”
“I’ll figure it out.”
“I’ll do it myself.”
“I’ve got it.”

But sometimes it isn’t independence at all.

It’s protection.

Because if I don’t need you, you can’t disappoint me.
If I don’t ask for help, you can’t let me down.
If I handle everything myself, I never have to experience what it feels like when someone doesn’t show up.

So you become incredibly capable.

You carry the heavy s**t. You solve the problems. You rebuild. You keep moving.

And everyone tells you how strong you are.

But maybe the next level of strength isn’t proving you can do everything alone.

Maybe it’s allowing yourself to believe that you deserve people who show up, too.

If you’re ready to heal that protector part of you and let others in, let’s chat. Hypnosis can help!
