Working on handwriting with a lovely kiddo who also loves art. I have been able to use art as a tool (a medium) to enable love of mark making and freedom to make and create using our pencil, paintbrush, paints, spy pens, wiggle pens, patterned pens to break down the demands of handwriting.
Slow steps, but little by little we are conquering 💪🏻 … this wonderful boy lost his love for drawing and colouring, now he had found it again!!
This is therapeutic use of self (OT), intrinsic motivation (art) all working together to find that sweet spot, or in OT we call it ‘the just right challenge’ … ☺️
