WABA BOARD STATEMENT:
Dear Watsu Community,
In the spirit of transparency and open communication, we would like to clarify recent questions and concerns regarding the use of the names “European” and “Harold Dull.”
After careful review and discussion with the experts and the parties involved, please, find the decision below:
The term “European” is not legally protected and may be used by any Watsu® center or organization in Europe, provided it does not imply endorsement by EU institutions or include protected EU symbols. This ensures fairness, equal opportunity, and avoids any perception of exclusivity.
On the other hand, the name “Harold Dull” is protected and may be used only with permission from the Dull family through a formal application process administered by Aquatic Wellness Foundation (AWF). Any center, publication, scholarship, or program wishing to use Harold’s name must first receive official approval.
As a Board, our responsibility is to ensure clarity, fairness, and respect for lineage while supporting unity within our international community.
