PCKP surgery was used to treat "osteoporotic spinal compression fractures", and normal walking was resumed on the second day after surgery
Recently, the Department of Orthopedics of Fengqing County People's Hospital performed percutaneous curved kyphoplasty (PCKP) on an 81 year old patient who suffered from "osteoporotic spinal compression fractures" due to an inadvertent fall. The operation took less than 1 hour, and the patient was able to move down on the ground the second day after the operation. This operation is the first case in Fengqing. PCKP surgery is currently one of the most effective and innovative surgical methods for the treatment of osteoporotic spinal compression fractures in clinical practice, characterized by small surgical trauma, fewer punctures, and fewer complications.
After relevant examinations were completed to confirm that the patient had an acute compression fracture of the lumbar vertebral body. Traditional vertebroplasty with unilateral puncture of bone cement often cannot be well distributed to the opposite side of the puncture, resulting in poor efficacy or the need for bilateral puncture. In order to reduce surgical trauma and avoid the possibility of multiple punctures, the team of orthopedic doctors decided to adopt a PCKP surgery scheme.
Full preoperative discussion of the surgical plan was conducted. The operation takes less than 1 hour, and the patient has a significant effect on vertebral reduction after surgery. The elderly family recovered well, and they were able to get out of bed the second day after surgery, resume normal walking, and smoothly discharged from the hospital.
Postoperative reexamination showed that the bone cement was well filled, and the patient could move down to the ground on the second day after surgery
