I was in a coaching session (yes, I'm a coach who takes coaching, because I know it works). We went looking for who I actually am underneath everything.

What surfaced was warmth. That underneath it all, I am a warm person.

I rejected it on the spot. The words were out of me before I could catch them. "Warmth is for sissies."

I sat there stunned by my own sentence. Where had I picked that up? I had carried it like a law of nature, and out loud it could not stand up for a second.

But it had been running my life for decades. Rationing my own warmth, letting it out on special occasions only, as though it was a weakness I had to keep under control.

These sentences sit at our core. We do not know we are holding them, and that is exactly why they last. They cannot survive daylight, though. Say one out loud and it comes apart.

What are the sayings you live by that you have never examined?

Own your shadows. Own your life.

When I was about five, I could see colours moving in the air. Geometric patterns, glowing softly in the dark, folding and unfolding above my bed. To me they were as real as anything in the room.

I tried to show my parents. They really did try to see. But it scared them, and I was told, "Darling, there's nothing there!" And any further mention was firmly closed down.

I developed a stutter around that time. And without ever noticing, I took this on as a rule: I was not allowed to talk about the most real and most beautiful thing in my world.

I'm 60 now. Decades of spiritual work, coaching, shadow work. But I've only just caught this rule still running. In what I share and with whom. In calling myself a life coach when the word I actually mean is spiritual. Even in how I dress, quite conventional, so you'd never guess that spirituality is my highest value.

One part of the healing was acknowledging it all out loud. Another part went backward instead. I turned to that little girl pointing at the air and gave her what she needed: yes, I see it too. It's beautiful. There is nothing wrong with you.

Own your shadows. Own your life.

I wanted a tenant who would treasure my London flat the way I had.

It had been my sanctuary for years and I'm still attached to it. So when I decided to rent it out, I got very specific about who I wanted to manifest.

I pictured a single Japanese woman. Respectful, considerate, quiet, a soft touch with everything. There aren't many Japanese people in London, so it seemed unreasonable. And sure enough, 37 enquiries came in and I saw a lot of people but none were Japanese, and more importantly, none felt right.

The last enquiry was signed Yuri, so I assumed he was Russian. I decided he'd be the last person I'd see. I had given up.

The doorbell rang on time, which no one else had been. Coming up the stairs was not a man. It was a woman. And yes, she was Japanese.

As we talked, it became clear that she was the exact tenant I had been looking for. I offered her the apartment there and then, and we've been happy landlord and tenant ever since.

Being very specific about what you want is everything in manifesting, even when it sounds unreasonable. There's no limit to what the universe can do.

I was sitting with my friend Nina the other day while she told me what she still wants to manifest. A certain place to live. Land for a retreat. Her songs travelling the world. And as she talked, something landed. I don't have that list anymore. Virtually everything on it has arrived. Quietly, step by step, no fanfare.

It took me the walk home to understand why. I'd been doing the work I do with my clients, only on myself. Clearing the manifestation blocks I didn't want to look at.

Here's what I always tell the women I work with. When our manifesting isn't working, we're usually asking from lack. A quiet doubt that we deserve it. A feeling that life won't be that generous with someone like us. And lack can't manifest anything but more lack.

The blocks aren't in the technique. Not in the vision board. They live in the place inside us that we ask from. A limiting belief is a shadow. So is unworthiness. Looking at them takes courage. It's also the only way I know to free what you're really asking for.

Own your shadows. Own your life.

There's a kind of grief we don't talk about much. It shows up quietly when we think, "I really thought I'd be further along by now".

I know it well. At 60, I still catch myself being impatient with an old wound. Really, this again?

But here's what I keep forgetting. The version of me who was supposed to have arrived by now, fully healed, untouched by old pain, was never real. And measuring myself against her is exactly how I miss the person I actually became.

What's helped me isn't building tolerance to the old wounds, growing scar tissue thick enough that they can't reach me. It's honesty. To say quietly, that hurt me. It affected me more than I wanted to admit. Not drama. Not blame. Just truthfulness with myself. That's where things start to move.

You may not be where you once thought you'd be. But you are also not where you used to be.

Own your shadows. Own your life.

I didn’t expect to fall in love with a lake, but here we are.

Atitlán feels majestic and sacred. It invites me back into simply being. No doing, just presence. No pushing. No agenda.

That’s so rare, isn’t it. So nourishing.

If you’ve been in “push mode,” breathe with me here. Let this be your sign to soften.

That belief that feels carved in stone? It was only ever written in sand.
Someone handed it to you before you could question it. You've carried it so long it feels like fact. But it's not. It never was.
The tide was always coming. The only question is what you'll write next.
Own your shadow, own your life.

You know that thing you keep saying you'll do tomorrow?
The email. The call. The conversation.

What if the reason you're not doing it has nothing to do with laziness — and everything to do with protection?

I wrote about this on the blog this week. Why we freeze when it matters most, and what actually helps us move through it.

If this resonates and you'd like to go deeper, my Discovery Sessions are a good place to start: coachkristina.net/offers-and-bookings

Own your shadows, own your life. 💙

Filming from paradise... still talking about shadow work 🌴

There's a quote I love: "Wherever you go, there you are." (Jon

Because your shadows don't get stopped at customs. They come right along with you.

That dream holiday, the fresh start, the new city - beautiful, yes. But your inner world travels too.

The good news? That means you can do your healing from anywhere. Including right where you are now.

Own your shadows, own your life.

Comparison is a trap. And here's why it's so unfair.

You're looking at someone who thrives in conditions that would wilt you. And wondering what's wrong with you.

Nothing is wrong with you. You're just a different species entirely.

You need different light. Different soil. Different care.

Stop measuring yourself against someone who was never meant to grow the way you grow.

🌱 If you're ready to discover what YOU actually need, I offer three Discovery Sessions for women navigating this exact terrain: coachkristina.net/offers-and-bookings

Own your shadow, own your life.
