Expectation vs. Reality 🤍
Somewhere between the birth plan you wrote and the birth you actually have, there’s a version of you that has to let go. That work starts long before labour.
Visualising your birth is good. But «this is what I hope for» can quietly turn into «this is what has to happen.» And birth has never once followed a script.
As a doula i don’t teach a plan. I teach a toolbox: a few ways to move through a contraction, a few positions, a few options if labour stalls or shifts direction.
Not because things will go wrong, but because flexibility lets you stay present when they go differently than planned.
That’s the real work of pregnancy: loosening your grip on the plan, not perfecting it.
And through all of it, one thing stays constant: your breath. Slow it down, and your body gets the message that you’re safe and can cope with the next wave. It’s your anchor when the room, or the plan, changes.
A good birth isn’t the one that goes to plan. It’s the one where you had enough options, and enough breath, to meet whatever came.
If you are expecting a baby with due date in February or march 2027 - it’s a good time to connect with me to plan your birth. I also have one spot in November this year.
