Nothing beats getting to experience the Sun and Full Moon in the same 12 hours, watching them hand off the sky to one another...There is something truly extraordinary about God's natural canvas, painting the sky and telling stories from the clouds. The magic is all around us, we just need to look up and allow ourselves to experience it, and live in the moment.
Summer sunrise has been a longstanding tradition of mine for as long as I can remember, but this is the first time I do it with a Full Moon too. To make it even more special, I happened to watch it from a completely different spot than usual, on the opposite side of the beach. Despite all these years, I'd never experienced this angle before, and was pleasantly surprised to find myself perfectly centered between the setting Full Moon and the rising Sun. I can't even describe how surreal that felt.
The poetic side of me couldn't help but imagine their energy colliding in ways that are neither explainable nor comprehensible. The rational side of me was just as captivated, knowing that what I was witnessing wasn't coincidence, but celestial mechanics unfolding with breathtaking precision. The Sun, the Earth, and the Moon, three celestial bodies each traveling their own path through space at extraordinary speeds, aligned in a way that made this exact perspective possible for only a fleeting moment. Out of the incomprehensible vastness of the cosmos, I just happened to be standing in the one place where that exact arrangement of light, motion, and perspective could be experienced.
And maybe that's the real magic.
The universe doesn't ask us to choose between science and wonder. If anything, the more we understand the astonishing precision behind it all, the more profound it becomes. God's creation has a remarkable way of reminding us that understanding the "how" doesn't diminish the wonder. It reveals just how extraordinary the masterpiece truly is.
Some moments are simply too perfect to be dismissed as ordinary. They remind us how small we are in the grand scheme of things, yet how incredibly fortunate we are to witness them at all.
