I've been thinking about how easily we can confuse fear and excitement.
Fritz Perls once said:
“Fear is excitement without the breath.”
It's an interesting invitation to reflect on how we experience emotions through our bodies.
Sometimes, the same racing heart can accompany something we're afraid of or something we're really looking forward to.
I think what's important is giving ourselves space to notice the difference.
Fear can be protective. Excitement can be an invitation to explore. And sometimes, they coexist.
We don't always need to change how we feel.
Sometimes, we can begin by listening.
Have you ever experienced fear and excitement at the same time?
