The white coat is a shield to protect lives, not a tool to justify violations.
When faced with FGM medicalization, the doctor’s response must be absolute rejection. Medicalization is not a solution—it is a crime. Healthcare professionals are bound by their sacred Hippocratic Oath to “Do No Harm” and are legally accountable under Article 242 of the Egyptian Penal Code, which imposes strict penalties on anyone performing or facilitating this practice, including medical staff and facilities.
As future physicians, we stand united: No compromise on human rights. No medicalization of FGM. The change truly starts with us.
