Why is it, for what feels like an eternity, when we practice tai chi it feels so awkward, difficult and frustrating?
Here's a few thoughts: Tai chi is an ancient practice. One of connection with inner and outer energies, one of finding your centre, your practice, your path without criticism or judgement.
To flow, be in the moment, be ready, no matter what will arrive.
Add awareness, peace, calm and an inner unshakeable strength that will vibrate through every cell of your being and you can see these are indeed very valuable things.
These are all things, every human being needs. Yet, we have been conditioned to a world whereby we receive everything instantaneously. A world of material convenience whereby at the press of a button, the slip of a knife, a glance at the screen we are filled for but a moment. We crave more and more, as it is merely a distraction away from true meaning and living. Empty vs full!
The human beings that passed on their genes in the distance past were the ones who planned, observed, were disciplined, practiced, experimented and became more aware of what was needed, what was possible. Their potential was realized, capacity for invention and perpetuating themselves into an unknown future was increased.
In other words delayed gratification over instant gratification. To know anything of great value takes time.
This is tai chi. You can't just have it, you can't just use a filter or AI and pretend you are a master. It requires grind, hard work, patience, repetition, effort, energy. It requires heart, determination constant attention to detail, that you may never have even considered. An awareness of the energy in the environment, your own energetics at any given moment, which of course are totally changeable.
Because it is difficult, it is painful, it is very precise, in it's geometry and mathematics. In the knowing when you can push yourself that little bit further, to understand you do have what it takes, or not.
It is alignment in action. Find your centre, find your balance.
