Stage 9 Fuel Plan ⛽️🇫🇷

Today’s challenge: 185.5 km. Hilly course. 3300 m D+. One final push before the first rest day.

A demanding stage that calls for consistent fueling from start to finish. Both to finish this race and to be ready for what comes next. Not everyone can handle 120g of carbs per hour while performing at high intensity. Team Jayco AlUla riders have prepared their gut just as carefully as their legs

Fuel target: 120g carbs/hour
☑️ 1 Ultra Drink per hour (90 g carbs per bottle)
☑️ 1 Sport Unit (Sports Chew or Sports Gel) per hour
☑️ Extra water to compensate sweat losses

🤔 Why we’re not selling lactate energy gels… yet.

At 6d, we don’t launch products because they’re trending. We launch them when science shows they truly help athletes perform better.

Lactate is promising: it could theoretically act as an additional fuel source alongside carbohydrates. But key questions remain:

🔬 Bioavailability is unproven
Do these products actually make lactate available to the body?

⚙️ Metabolic effects are unclear
No convincing evidence yet that they meaningfully alter energy metabolism.

📈 Performance benefits are uncertain
Current data does not show consistent improvements.

Could that change? Absolutely.
We’ll keep following the science. Until then: evidence over hype.
