Savasana may look like doing nothing, but there is a practice within the stillness.
The body is allowed to release effort.
The breath becomes quieter.
The senses gradually become less engaged with what is happening around us.
But unlike sleep, awareness can remain.
With practice, Savasana becomes an opportunity to experience deep relaxation while remaining aware. As attention becomes less occupied with external stimulation, the practice can also create conditions for Pratyahara , the withdrawal of the senses from their external object
So perhaps the question in Savasana is not “Can I relax?”
But “Can I relax deeply and still remain aware?”
