We are deeply honored to participate in the annual COMS-A (MedEdAfrica 2026) conference, held July 6–8 at the Ethiopian Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa under the theme "Advancing Medical Education in Africa"!

During the event, St. Paul Institute for Reproductive Health and Rights convened a dynamic, high-level panel under the theme Integrating Reproductive Health into Medical Education.
The panel featured the Vice Provost and a Family Planning and RH subspecialist from St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College (SPHMMC), senior-year resident, medical student from The Gambia, and the Chief Head of ECSACOG as distinguished panelists.

The panelists underscored SPHMMC as a recognized center of excellence in Ethiopia, highlighting its longstanding contributions to RH training, clinical mentorship, and service delivery.
It was emphasized that reproductive health competence must permeate every medical specialty—not just OB/GYN—to meet patients' full needs. The student and resident panelists also mentioned curricula must be tailored to address local realities, such as Ethiopia's high burden of unmet family planning and post-abortion care, while utilizing task-sharing and competency-based education to empower the broader health workforce.

Shaping the next generation of African healthcare leaders demands the early integration of advocacy, reproductive justice, and policy engagement directly into classroom and bedside training. Thank you to everyone who joined us in this vital conversation!
