ultrasound guided PCNL
***l stent #18 years!
A patient presented with Grade IV F***l (forgotten, encrusted, calcified) stent of 18 years duration.
We did cystolithotomy and removed 6cm stone with the distal tip of the stent (cut at the ureteric or***ce).
After some weeks, we did (only) guided prone PCNL for upper pole and lower pole stones which measured 4cm and 1.5cm, respectively.
The stones are fragmented and removed and the proximal part of the stent is taken out.
The patient is in a smooth postop course!
Takeon Message
1. For physicians: we should tell to our patients for whom we insert temporary stents that there is a foreign body inside and it should be removed when it finishes its purpose.
2. For patients: What ever condition you are in, please make sure that those foreign bodies are removed as per your physician's order.
