When a new baby is ready to arrive, doctors and nurses work like a super-smart team to make sure the delivery is safe and smooth. Sometimes, the baby's head comes out perfectly, but one of their tiny shoulders gets stuck behind the mother's hip bone. In the medical world, this little traffic jam is called .
Let's break down how doctors handle this situation using the special techniques shown in the diagram!

🤰 The "Hands and Knees" Position

In the main picture, the mother is leaning on her hands and knees on the hospital bed. This is a very helpful position because it naturally tilts her hips and creates more room for the baby to move.

: The midwife in the blue uniform is supporting the mom, helping her stay steady and comfortable.
: The doctor is sitting down, ready to gently guide the baby as soon as there is enough space.

🦴 Looking Closer: What's Happening Inside?
The smaller circle drawings give us a peek inside the body to show exactly how doctors help the baby slide out safely.

#1. The Top Diagram (The Bone Blockage)

The Problem: The baby's head is already out, but the front shoulder is caught against a hard bone called the .
The Solution: By changing the mom's position, the area near the lower back called the opens up. This gives the baby extra room to wiggle free!

#2. The Bottom Diagram (The Gentle Turn)

Internal Pressure: If the baby needs a little extra help, the doctor can safely use their gloved hand to reach inside.
Posterior Shoulder Rotation: The doctor carefully rotates (turns) the baby's back shoulder. Think of it like turning a puzzle piece or steering a toy car around a tight corner so it can slide right through the doorway.
