Billis Action Network was born out of a deep-seated belief that every girl in Somali communities deserves to grow up whole, protected, and empowered to reach her full potential.

Creating safe and respectful universities starts with awareness. Billis Action network engaged with university students in an interactive awareness session on SEAH, promoting prevention, reporting mechanisms, and a culture of respect, dignity, and accountability.

Knowledge is the first step towards prevention. Through this session, students learned about their rights, responsibilities, and the importance of speaking up against harassment and supporting safe reporting. Together, we are fostering university campuses where everyone feels safe, respected, empowered, and free from all forms of sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment.

Today, Bilis action network (BAN) successfully conducted two important workshops aimed at strengthening the prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH) within university communities.

The day began with a University PSEAH and IEC Materials Development Workshop, bringing together representatives from the Bureau of Women and Children Affairs (BoWCA), Sharia Court, Commission of Elders, university students, and media professionals to co-create clear, culturally appropriate, and impactful awareness materials that will promote respectful behavior, encourage reporting, and foster a safe learning environment

This was followed by Workshop on Mapping University PSEAH Referral Pathway Systems, where key stakeholders worked together to identify and strengthen safe, confidential, and survivor-centered referral mechanisms for students and staff.

These collaborative efforts demonstrate our shared commitment to creating universities where dignity, respect, equality, and accountability are upheld for everyone.

We successfully conducted our first Activity : SEAH Awareness and Protection and a Mental Health Awareness Workshop under the ISF project

The session focused on preventing Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (SEAH), promoting safeguarding, and raising awareness about the importance of mental health and psychosocial well-being. Together, we are building safer spaces where dignity, respect, and well-being are prioritised for everyone.
