Exploring vegetables in different forms can make them feel much less scary 🙌

Making parsnip crisps is quick, easy and children can get involved. They are dry, beige and sweet.

They’re also a great snack for parents too, especially with roast dinner season coming up! 🍂

🍓Fresh fruit can be a challenge for many children as each piece can look, feel and taste different.

At Munchers we explore different ways to incorporate fruits and vegetables into children’s diets.

Dried fruits are often a hit as no juice, crunchy and sweet and they don’t go mushy in a lunch box so a winner for school snack💛

Packed lunch or school dinners? 🍎🥪

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. It’s about making sure your child has sufficient food throughout the day to sustain their energy, helping them focus and learn.

Every child is different 💛

“Just take one bite” might seem like a small ask, but it can sometimes add pressure around food.

A child may take that bite simply because they’ve been told to, without feeling comfortable or understanding the steps that come before eating.

At Magnificent Munchers, we focus on building confidence through exploring, touching, smelling and interacting with food - helping children move through the steps to eating at their own pace. 💛

Getting used to new textures and sauces takes time 🍝✨

At the start of this session, this child pushed the spaghetti hoops away. By the end, they were exploring and playing with them using a fork!

They didn’t eat them, but becoming more comfortable around a challenging food is an important step along the steps to eating 💛

Not ready to eat carrots just yet…and that’s okay 🥕💛

Today, we focused on the lower steps to eating: feeling happy around carrots, looking at them and exploring them through touch.

By bringing in his interests in vehicles and counting, we made food exploration feel fun, familiar and pressure-free - helping him build confidence at his own pace! 🚗

Accepting foods in different forms can be a challenge for children we see.

In our sessions we help build links between foods slowly work on accepting changes and building familiarity like turning a soft wrap into crackers.

We always work at the child’s pace so we reduce anxiety and help build confidence around different textures and forms of food.
