Project Management hat off 👌❤️

This week has been nothing short of extraordinary. Together with my team and charity partner FACEYOUTH Charity we set out to put a holiday club/s on with aim of children from all over the city and walks of life to have fun, learn and make friends.

Thank you so much to Lydia K Cutler and Birgit Itse for your wisdom, engagement and skillset which the children adored and gained so much from both of you. It was a joy to work with both of you this week.

And a special thank you to my team from day one Carla Fitzgerald, Trace Blackie and volunteer Vanessa Finch for your ex*****on, dedication to impacting change for these children and for your trust in me to lead and for the love you give my son. Everytime we do these clubs I watch him grow and develop further into the kind, caring and helpful little boy he is and I know that comes from the children and you guys. Tracey especially you, you surpassed yourself this week with stepping into your lead role and applying the business management skills we worked together on at our 1:1’s

Thank you Aberdeenshire Rugby Club & Hilton Convention Centre for hosting us all over the last week and for the taster session with the kids and to Zubi Mele for coaching the children this week too.

And lastly Ify Anyaegbu and the Board at Faceyouth for trusting my deliverance of the project and managing the overall project for 60 children. I am so grateful to be part of the FACEYOUTH family and each time we do these clubs they just seem to get better and better.

I’ve been having some health issues I try not to give attention too as hard as it is but this has been a very welcomed distraction. Now to enjoy the last few weeks of the holiday.

Happy Friday ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Client feedback 🩷

Almost 6 years I’ve been a subcontractor working with uni students around Scotland supporting them with coaching support for their mental health and additional support needs.

In that time I’ve worked with many students who have mental illness, who have situations in their life which create limits for them, I’ve worked with neurospicy students, mature students, single parent students, master students and PhD students. I’ve done this along side our private clients and organisational activities.

I never thought I would have the capability or worth to be able to work with university students many who are studying for better opportunities for themselves but this years feedback confirms to keep doing what I am doing. It’s an honour to be asked back again to do the same next year.

I was a bad student. School was a write-off for me. I was asked to leave after my fourth year exams, I tried my first shot at uni when I was 21. I lived learning but life was just far too turbulent to stick at it. I did my first degree with the open university and the flexibility and support was simply unmatched.

The only limits are the ones we create for ourself in our mind and in our being.

Sometimes all it takes is an external reminder that you’re doing the best you can and it’s acknowledged though I don’t do this for acknowledgment- I do it to make a difference and show if I can, you can.

❤️

EYE ROLL 🙄 (it’s a good eye roll though… I promise!)

Try as I might I can’t leave FACEYOUTH alone. Every holiday club I say I’m done. WHO AM I KIDDING??

I’ve decided to remain working with them as their interim Operations Manager. I love working with them, my son loves the charity and holiday clubs and I love the get back in terms of wholesomeness of seeing the kids happy.

This holiday clubs has had an overwhelming response of interest which speaks volumes of the work we carry out. Which is why we need your help.

Ify Anyaegbu couldn’t bring herself to approve the emails telling parents that their children’s applications for our Summer Skills Club were unsuccessful because demand exceeded capacity.

The most heartbreaking part? Some of the children who regularly attend our Skills Club missed the registration deadline because of work and family commitments.

Someone said today, “It’s a good problem to have.” And I understand what they meant, it shows there’s a real need for what we’re doing. But when you’re the person who has to tell a child or parent that there’s no space left, it doesn’t feel like a good problem. It feels heartbreaking.

Right now, our funding only covers five sessional staff, so we can safely accommodate just 50 children. Yet, we received applications for over 100 children.

The good news is that, if we can recruit enough volunteers and secure additional support, we can increase our capacity and give more children a place.

So today, I’m asking my Aberdeen community for your help.

❤️ Could your business sponsor a child for £50 per week?
❤️ Could you sponsor the venue or refreshments?
❤️ Could your staff volunteer for a day or even a few hours?
❤️ Are you a retired teacher, youth worker, parent, student, or someone with experience supporting children who could volunteer during the programme?

Every volunteer. Every sponsor. Every act of kindness means one more child gets the opportunity to learn, grow and belong this summer.

If you can help in any way, please get in touch. Together, we can ensure that no child misses out because of limited resources. ❤️🤍

📣📣📣📣📣📣

Next week the children holidays start which means if you are a mama like me you will be oozing with excitement to have six weeks of constant needs and wants to be met as you work full time, clean, rob a bank to keep it all going and supply endless snacks and entertainment to your little people all while drinking enough water, trying to brush your hair and p*e in peace.🥹🤪🙃

During this riveting time (🤣😭) response times to enquiries and clients will be a little slower and appointments will not be as flexible as they usually are with limited childcare.

As a working mum I have minimal support around my son and the village is non existent but I will try my best to accommodate as best as I can. This will take effect as of next week until mid August. Thanks for understanding. During this time Rob will still be working as normal.

Hang in there mama’s!! Happy summer 🩷🩷🩷

What does mental health have to do with chess??? 🤔

At Fulfil-Ment we pride ourselves for thinking out the box when it comes to how we work with clients. Our practice is always person centred but what does that mean? Let me explain…

For the last few months Naomi Liza Brown Ba (Hons) has been working with a client who is very anxious and struggles with direct eye to eye conversation. Their coaching goals are to improve their confidence as well as devise strategies that can help with social anxiety. Prior to sessions commencing, Naomi found out about likes and dislikes of the client and what their hobbies are where they stated chess. Naomi had a chess board at home so thought through having a game of chess in the session the client would begin to feel relaxed and open up. So Naomi didn’t forget (which can happen btw!) she would not little notes down between turns and then at the end would create action points around the identified goals. The client has became more relaxed and open and is slowly (at their pace) building confidence and finding ways to not feel so anxious.

Every client we see is different with unique qualities and needs and that is what person centred approach mean to us. Going the extra mile to get the most out of our clients.

We offer therapy services, mental health coaching and hypnotherapy which can be online or in person. For more information get in touch 🩷

Say hello to Rob 👋

Rob’s been part of the Fulfil-Ment team for almost 4 years, and we’re so grateful he is.

With 20+ years experience supporting people through difficult experiences, Rob brings a calm, heart-centred presence to every session. He’s BACP registered and trained in pluralistic psychotherapy — which means he draws on a range of approaches like CBT, humanistic, psychodynamic, and graded exposure, so support can be tailored to what feels right for each person.

Before joining us, Rob was Programme Lead for Psychotherapy at Suffolk University and worked with Women’s Aid. He’s one of very few men nationally to have worked as a therapist within Women’s Aid — experience that shaped his respectful, trauma-informed approach.

I’m biased, but Rob is a huge asset to Fulfil-Ment. Together we focus on integrative, person-centred support — meeting each person where they’re at, with no judgment and no one-size-fits-all.

If you’ve been thinking about talking to someone, Rob offers online sessions so you can access support from home.

💬 Want to learn more? Book a free 15-min discovery call via our website. No pressure, just a conversation to see if it feels like a good fit.

Fulfil-Ment provides psychotherapy as a complementary support for wellbeing. Psychotherapy does not diagnose, treat, or cure medical conditions. It’s not a replacement for GP or medical care. Results vary from person to person. For medical concerns, please speak to your GP.

RESET, REALIGN & READY TO GO ONCE MORE

What a weekend it’s been! This weekend I was kindly invited along to attend the Entrepreneur Network summer residential hosted by . The weekend was packed with so much concepts, strategies and ideas presented by from the head of business school and lecturers from the OU. It was exactly what was needed to help me fall in love with my business once more.

We spoke about sustainable business/ social impact within your business/ how to pitch to investors and the different types of investor there are out there and marketing strategies- all things I had been massively hiding from and here’s why ⬇️

I’ve been calling this chapter of my life the midlife crisis phase of my life, (though I’ve had many crises over my life time, minor, major and somewhere in the middle.)😂😂😂

Almost 6 years Fulfil-Ment has been running and growing but this last year my motivation dwindled massively. I had a set back of failed partnership last year which nearly cost me the business itself and since then combined with being a mum who has been running on fumes, fizzsticks and magic for the last few years its took its toll. We also bought and moved house last year too which I have never done and there has been a hella lot to do.

I saw last year as a massive fail and it was but this is where I’m getting it twisted and have forgot…

FAILURE IS OK, mucking up is ok, not getting it right is ok and this was heavily validated this weekend and if anything that failure shows courage, drive and desire to scale up and risk take (something I struggle with due to my own trauma massively).

I’d hid away this last year, slowed down and became unhappy with my life, like very very unhappy even though life for me has been the best it’s ever been. All because I was scared to try again and take Fulfilment to the next level. This weekend has helped reset so many things for me and the organisation.

Thank you so much OU for having me along, but for changing the direction of my life. Had I not done my degree, none of this would’ve even started. I also want to thank my clients this year. I started this with a purpose to help support mental wellbeing through acute mental health and wellbeing support and your trust in me even when I’ve been feeling behind the scenes burnout like melted welly 🤣🤣

So remember it is better to fail than to never tried at all, and with that sentiment have a great week ahead and make it a good one.

So much love

Naomi

Hypnotherapy - what’s it all about?

At Fulfilment Aberdeen we provide online and in person hypnotherapy sessions for clients.

Sessions are delivered by trained and accredited practitioner and tailored to individual goals and needs of the client. Some people find hypnotherapy helpful for supporting everyday wellbeing, managing stress, improving sleep quality, building confidence, pain management and addressing unhelpful habits or thought patterns.

Hypnotherapy works with the subconscious mind where automatic responses form which create coping and defence mechanisms in how we act and approach life. Usually along side our sessions we will implement coaching and pluralistic strategies to support the client between sessions. Every person responds differently to their sessions.

Book a free 15-minute discovery call to discuss goals and how sessions work. Online sessions available from home.

*Hypnotherapy is a complementary therapy. It does not diagnose, treat, or cure medical conditions and is not a substitute for medical care or GP advice. Prequalifying consultation required.
