This week's Fun Filled Friday has some ideas for sensory play that you can do at home!
🥄Fill a bowl or box with rice (or lentils). Provide spoons, yoghurts pots (or similar) and some small toys. This can be fantastic for: basic concepts like up/down, in/out; verbs like pour, fill, hide; imaginary play ( the Paw Patrol pups in the picture have been rescued from a lot of avalanches in the past. Rice or snow, they're ready to go!).
💦🌻Get a bowl, some water, and some flowers or leaves from the garden or the park. This can be a lovely activity for talking about how the water and plants feel, smell, and look. Add small bath toys for imaginary play, or just a cup and enjoy a quiet moment listening to the water as you pour or splash it.
❄ Freeze some water on an old baking tray and it can make a wonderful ice rink for toys, and also be a great opportunity for adding adjectives or verbs to what your child is saying e.g. "Ice" --> "The ice is cold", "Bluey" --> "Bluey is sliding".
