Hip Dysplasia can affect dogs of all ages, and sometimes the signs can be subtle. You may notice signs of reduce activity, difficulty getting up, reluctance to climb stairs, a bunny hop gait, reduce muscle mass around the affected hind limbs and intermittent lameness.

I can help assess movement, muscle asymmetry, strength and mobility by supporting your dog with an individualised rehabilitation and exercise plan.

One of today’s clients absolutely flat out during her massage and Tens.. Lola is 5 year old Lab with bilateral hip dysplasia, she is seeing me fortnightly for physio. She really enjoyed her session and has daily physio exercises to do inbetween sessions 😊 Victoria Marden

You’ve probably seen me post about Pip a few times, and there’s a reason for that. 💙

Starting out as a newly qualified Veterinary Physiotherapist can feel quite daunting. I’ve not even been in the industry for a year yet, and like many new graduates, there are moments when you question yourself and wonder if you’re doing enough.

But then I see the progress Pip has made.

Seeing her every week, watching her grow stronger, regain confidence, and make steady progress reminds me exactly why I chose this career. Her journey is a reminder that rehabilitation isn’t about overnight miracles, it’s about consistency, patience, and celebrating every small win.

I’m so grateful to be part of Pip’s recovery, and seeing the difference physiotherapy has made to her life gives me confidence that I’m making a real difference to the animals and owners I work with. 🐾❤️

Thank you to Pip’s wonderful family for trusting me to be part of her journey. Here’s to many more milestones together!

Pip has made fantastic progress in the seven weeks since her spinal surgery for Grade 5 IVDD. I first met Pip just one week post-operatively, and since then she has been receiving weekly physiotherapy alongside hydrotherapy. It has been wonderful to see her steadily regain muscle mass, improved sensation in her hind limbs, and increasing confidence. She is now able to stand for short periods—an exciting milestone in her recovery. Her rehabilitation programme includes manual therapy, NMES (neuromuscular electrical stimulation), red light therapy, TENS, and targeted therapeutic exercises, all tailored to support nerve recovery, improve muscle strength, and maximise her functional mobility. Pip continues to work incredibly hard each week, and i look forward to supporting her through the next stages of her rehabilitation. Well done Pip!

FASCIA
One of my favourite techniques is myofascial release – a specialised hands-on therapy that targets the fascia, the connective tissue surrounding muscles, bones, and organs. Using gentle pressure and stretching, I help release restrictions, improve tissue mobility, and restore natural movement.
For horses, I also use a fascial edge tool to help release fascial adhesions. This allows me to work more effectively and deeply into the tissues, supporting improved mobility and comfort.

Does your dog or horse only see a physiotherapist when something is wrong? 🐾🐴
As owners, it’s easy to focus on recovery after an injury, but maintenance physiotherapy is actually one of the best ways to prevent those injuries from happening in the first place.
Think of it like an MOT for your animal. I’m looking for the subtle signs of muscle tightness or compensatory patterns that aren't visible to the naked eye yet. By catching these early, we keep them moving comfortably and performing at their best.
I’ve just uploaded a new article to the Resource Area on my website explaining the 4 key reasons why proactive care is a positive step towards your pet’s long-term health.
