Greetings Mx Cousins,

I hope your day is going well!

Just as a reminder of the IMFA Mission Statement:

Our mission is to:
- Build and Strengthen Pedigrees: Identify and document family lineages of the Molyneux name (Mx) through careful research, collaboration, and shared knowledge.
- Connect Families: Help members discover and connect with distant cousins and previously unknown relatives, fostering a sense of shared heritage and belonging.
- Leverage DNA Science: Utilise advanced tools such as FamilyTreeDNA’s Big Y-DNA testing to validate and refine pedigrees, ensuring greater accuracy than traditional records alone can provide.
- Preserve Legacy: Create a lasting resource for current and future generations, safeguarding the history, stories, and genetic connections of the Molyneux family worldwide.

For full details, please see: https://mx-world.org/About/Purpose.aspx

Focussing on the DNA leverage, IMFA manage a "Molyneaux Surname Project" on the FTDNA website.

We would like to encourage any Mx Cousins that have taken a DNA Test with one of the genealogy sites i.e. Ancestry, 23andMe and MyHeritage to upload their DNA test to the FTDNA and join the "Molyneaux Surname Project".
To join FTDNA and upload your DNA results is free of charge, joining the Molyneaux Surname Project will require a message to the Admins to be invited or, if you purchase the "Autosomal DNA Unlock" (same as the "Family Finder" product but without having to send in a DNA sample), then request to join the FTDNA Molyneaux Surname Project. See the following link: https://www.familytreedna.com/products/autosomal-dna-upload

For Mx male line testing, a Y-DNA test can define Mx pedigree lines (or not, if NPE found) further beyond the autosomal DNA tests. FTDNA currently have a sale if you're interested: https://www.familytreedna.com/

If you have any questions regarding DNA testing or, a Male Mx who is considering taking a Y-DNA test, please get in touch?

IMFA's contact email for DNA is: "[email protected]" or, leave a message in the comments and I or one of the IMFA Admins will reply to you.

Best wishes,
UK550 Paul Molyneaux

Where does your Mx line fit in among the 3 main groups of Mx lines in the Molyneaux Surname Project? No better time for direct-line Mx males to take a Y-37, Y-111, or Big Y-700 test and join the Molyneaux Surname Project, than during the FamilyTreeDNA Father’s Day Sale now thru 22 June 2026 11:59 pm Pacific Daylight Time. Thanks to IMFA member; Mary Porter for sharing this Family event here in the UK and at a significant location of the Sefton Mxes.

Please note this event is not Mx specific but it looks like there will be general talks and Q&A sessions on-going throughout the day.

I'm planning to go the event at Liverpool Aintree Racecourse in May however, there are other events planned for London, Midlands and an online event.

The abbreviation Mx is used here to represent any spelling of the Molyneux surname.

Does your Mx line have a connection to Lycoming County or Sullivan County, Pennsylvania, USA?
Does your Mx line have a connection to any of the following places in England?

Bold, Lancashire
Rixton or Hollins Green, Lancashire
St Helen, Hollinfare, Lancashire
St Elphin, Warrington, Lancashire
St Luke, Farnworth, Lancashire
St Anne’s, St Nicholas, or St Peter, Liverpool, Lancashire
St Mary the Virgin, Lymm, Cheshire

In the March 2026 edition of the International Molyneux Family Association (IMFA) newsletter, MxWorld, there are two old letters transcribed and analyzed that were sent between Mx relatives in the early 1800s with ties to these locations. Both letters mention the names of relatives living in England and in Pennsylvania, USA, from which a basic family tree was created.

Greetings Mx Cousins,

We have recently sent an email to all our IMFA website members in support of our Winter MxWorld Newsletter.

In this Winter/Christmas/Holiday edition, we have listed our IMFA Mission Statement (see below):

As part of our transformation, we would like to trial a new IMFA Questionnaire for our IMFA members. Quite often, we are asked for help to try and unravel a mystery ancestor, break down a brick wall or just connect folk. Having this information across the IMFA Member community can help the researchers of the group analyse Mx Family as a whole rather than individually.

If you are not an IMFA member but would like to receive a regular newsletter and partake in the Mx website or help in the research of Mx Families, please take a look at the website: http://mx-world.org, if you'd like to join us please follow to the membership subscription page. It's only $10 USD per year (the price of two cups of coffee) 😄.

To all our IMFA Facebook Group members, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !!

Best Wishes,
Paul Molyneaux UK550

As a starter for 10, here is an open post for discussion ...

Let us know if you need your reply re-posting to the group?

21/10/2025

Hello Mx Cousins,

I hope you enjoying the seasonal change from Summer to Autumn/Fall or Winter to Spring depending on your hemisphere location? For info, the weather here in the North-West of England in the usual - rain but keeping a mild 10 Deg. C (50 Deg F). We brits love to discuss (moan 😂) about the weather !

We would like to try a little experiment to get the exchange of Mx information flowing. As only Admins can initiate a post on this site, we would like to make open posts for FB members to raise questions about anything related to the group that you have found of interest. It may be a chance sighting of an Mx roadsign you've spotted, a Molyneux Grandfather clock seen online or a brickwall in your research you've managed to break through?

If you have research queries on your Mx line, please also post to the group there may be others who can help from the wider community? As Admins, we are researchers like yourselves, some with more experience than others. We will try to get around to previous requests for assistance when time allows.

An alternative is to message the site with a question or anything you want to raise and I will re-post it for you on the site. I do check for messages to the Admin on a regular basis.

We'd love to hear your from you. Enjoy your day !! 😃
