This year marks 10 years since my coeliac disease diagnosis 🧡

Before diagnosis, I experienced fatigue, brain fog and eventually severe stomach cramps and IBS-like symptoms. Looking back, the signs were there, but my doctor and I didn’t connect them to coeliac disease at the time.

After experiencing prolonged fatigue following grief and various deficiencies including iron, vitamin D and calcium, I eventually saw a different GP who arranged blood tests, followed by a biopsy which confirmed my diagnosis.

If symptoms feel familiar to you, don’t ignore them. And importantly, if you are being tested for coeliac disease, keep gluten in your diet throughout the testing process.

1 in 100 people in the UK have coeliac disease, but only 36% are diagnosed leaving 64% undiagnosed.
