Hello everyone,

After years of quietly working away in private practice and supporting people through bereavement and trauma work, I realised I've never actually introduced myself to the local community...

My name is Katrina and I run Get Curious Counselling. I'm a qualified Gestalt Psychotherapist and EMDR practitioner, working from a private therapy room in the local area.

I support adults experiencing a range of difficulties including anxiety, overwhelm, bereavement, trauma, relationship difficulties and life transitions. I also have specialist experience supporting people bereaved by su***de through my work with Hertfordshire Su***de Bereavement Service.

Many people come to therapy because they feel stuck, exhausted from carrying too much, or simply want a space where they can talk openly without judgement. Therapy isn't about having all the answers. Sometimes it's about having the time and support to become curious about what's happening and finding a way forward.

If you're curious about therapy, I offer a free 10-15 minute phone call so we can see whether working together feels like a good fit.

Sometimes we spend so much time thinking about our lives that we miss the moment we’re actually in.

Thinking about what happened earlier.
Thinking about what might happen next.
Thinking about what we should say, fix, or figure out.

Thinking has its place.

But in Gestalt therapy there’s often a gentle invitation to shift from analysing our experience… to actually noticing it.

The feeling of your feet on the ground.
The air on your skin.
The sounds around you.

Just for a moment, stepping out of the mind and back into the moment that’s already here.

A small experiment you might try today.

There’s a lot happening in the world right now.

When the headlines feel loud, our nervous systems can easily shift into vigilance… even when what we’re seeing is far away, or echoes something from our past.

In this week’s Thoughts from My Walk, I’m offering a small pause.

A moment to look around you, notice what’s actually here, and gently check in with your body.

You don’t have to carry the whole world tonight.

One breath.
One body.
One small patch of ground beneath your feet.

That’s enough for now.

You are not your productivity.

So many of us learned that being valuable meant being useful.
Capable. Efficient. Holding it all together.

And when we slow down…
or feel tired…
or don’t “get enough done”…

Our self-worth wobbles.

But worth isn’t something you earn through output.
It isn’t measured in emails sent, tasks ticked off, or how well you coped today.

If this is something you’re carrying, I hope this walk offers a gentle reset.

You don’t have to prove that you’re enough.

Let that be true for today.
