Did you know that I started my business the day my eldest started school!

The idea had been building in my head for a while but I really needed that time and headspace (and a hot coffee!) to officially launch. And I’ve never looked back…

I’ve got some exciting plans for year 3 and I hope you’ll join me on the journey- I’m sure there will be ups and downs as there always is.

This page is for you. So comment below if there’s anything particular you’d like to see, or if you have any questions

Thanks for being here! X

I think this says it all!

When you see that NHS logo on the envelope…

I got a letter through the post last week that I wasn’t expecting. It was only my daughter’s reception health check results but it took my right back to parenting my first baby through countless scans and appointments.

The instant physical reaction in my chest. I had to open it immediately and then take a minute to recover when I realised it wasn’t important.

Whether we are aware of it, or not, parents of children in the healthcare system carry a load, always. And it can feel heavy.

If you’re carrying that load, I see you.

If your school aged child has a healthcare appointment coming up, you need one of these.

Each page has a different Winnie the pooh scene with lots of different items to find. Beautiful illustrations and lovely storytelling

Similar to the previous book but under the sea theme. I love Usborne books. I actually have an older version of this same book from 30 years ago!

This one is a bit different. It tells the story of Pierre as he explores a new land. It has a mix of find it, puzzles and mazes. (I ended up buying this one for my son…)

Where’s Wally, it’s a classic. Say no more

I was so tempted to buy this! If I was still working at the hospital I would have
Much harder than it looks, so better for older kids (and their parents!) and brilliant graphics and illustrations.

Right, actually, might have to go back and get this one!

Supporting your child through healthcare is not about being perfect. We definitely don’t always get it right.

And I’m a good example of that!

But the important thing is, I’ve learnt my lesson (the hard way!) and next time will be better, I’ll make sure of it.

So, don’t worry about getting it all right. Just start a conversation and see what happens. You’re better at supporting your child than you might think

If you’ve been here a while you’ll know I divide everything into before, during and after.

To give you an idea of what this looks like in practice, I would like to introduce you to Amy.

Caroline, Amy’s mum, was one of my first clients and she took away everything we spoke about and supported her daughter to have a really positive blood test. The outcome? They both left feeling so proud and confident in the face of future healthcare appointments.

I genuinely do a little happy dance when I get feedback and hear how positive a medical experience has been for a family because of the work we’ve done together. There’s no better feeling!

‘It’s ok, they won’t remember it’
If your baby has had any type of healthcare procedure, chances are someone said this to you.

I heard this so many times with my son and it drove me crazy. But it comes from a well meaning place.

They may not remember the procedures, or the hospitals or the people they met. But, somewhere inside, they probably do remember the feeling of being unsafe and scared.

They may not remember the details, but I know I do. The tears, the holding, the feeling of being utterly useless and unable to help.

It’s never too late to talk about it, to reflect and give yourself some grace. These experiences are hard.

It’s ok, they won’t remember it. But do you?
