This is so true.
A sad part of my job is seeing clients arrive feeling disappointed with themselves for not being ''as healed'' as they thought.
What they've have missed is that yes, a set back happened during the week but actually the difficult feelings passed quickly or they found a technique to help them manage those difficult feelings while they lasted. They were able to come to their session and clearly describe what happened during the set back.... And that is healing.
Healing is not avoiding all triggers forever. Healing is using the insight and techniques gained from sessions to help you step out of the difficult feelings and restore a sense of calm.
Healing may take a little longer than expected, and it make look or feel a little different to what you expected but that doesn't mean progress isn't happening.
