Three years ago this was an idea.
Today Anxiety Aid International is a Registered Scottish Charity (SC055392).
Thank you to Ayrshire Daily News for sharing the story and helping raise awareness of anxiety and emotional wellbeing.
The dream was then. The work is now. 💙
New Ayrshire Charity Established to Help Tackle Growing Anxiety Crisis
A new Ayrshire-based charity dedicated to improving anxiety awareness and support has officially been granted charitable status following more than three years of planning and development.
Anxiety Aid International™ has now been entered onto the Scottish Charity Register as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation, receiving registered charity number SC055392.
The charity has been created by Ayr-based anxiety specialist and clinical hypnotherapist Alan Currie in response to growing concerns over the increasing number of people experiencing anxiety and emotional wellbeing challenges.
Alan has spent years supporting children, teenagers and adults affected by anxiety. Through that work, he says one thing has become increasingly clear: anxiety is affecting more people than ever, while many services continue to face significant pressure and growing demand.
The organisation aims to improve public understanding of anxiety through education, awareness campaigns and access to practical wellbeing resources designed to help individuals seek support before issues escalate.
Families across Scotland are increasingly finding it difficult to access timely support, while schools are reporting rising levels of anxiety among young people. Mental health services also continue to experience high demand as they work to support those in need.
The creation of Anxiety Aid International™ is intended to complement existing support services by providing accessible information, educational resources and early intervention guidance for individuals, families and communities.
The achievement marks the culmination of a three-year journey involving trustee recruitment, governance development and the successful completion of the application process with the Scottish Charity Regulator.
The charity hopes to develop its work across Ayrshire and beyond, providing additional support and education to help people better understand anxiety and improve their wellbeing.
Further information about the charity and its future plans is expected to be announced in the coming months.
