It’s Therapy Thursday and today Amie is debunking some of the myths around osteoarthritis.

It’s important to remember that an x-ray is only one part of the picture. Some people can have significant changes on an x-ray but relatively little pain, whilst others can have quite a lot of pain with fewer visible changes.

You may think that movement is wearing your joint out and that resting will protect it but avoiding activity because of fear of causing damage can result in stiffness, muscle weakness and lower levels of confidence. Movement and exercise are crucial in managing osteoarthritis and looking after your joint.

If you’re struggling to manage the symptoms associated with osteoarthritis or you’d like to improve your mobility or strength, physiotherapy can help.

Get in touch by email or give us a call.

It’s Therapy Thursday and today Amie is recognising World Physiotherapy Day! 🌍

Every year on the 8th September physiotherapists around the world come together to celebrate the profession, raise awareness of what physiotherapy can offer and highlight the difference that physiotherapy can make to people’s lives.

The focus of this year’s campaign is cardiovascular disease and stroke.

Physiotherapists can help people to become more physically active, reduce their risk of developing health problems and manage long term conditions.

Physiotherapy can contribute to prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and quality of life. So whilst World Physiotherapy Day may have been on Tuesday, its message is something that we can carry forward every day.

If you’re looking for some advice or support, get in touch by email or give us a call.

It’s Therapy Thursday!

Have you got a resistance band at home? Perhaps you bought some but are unsure how to use them?

Resistance bands are incredibly versatile and can be used to help improve strength and muscle control. A lighter colour usually means less resistance whilst a darker colour generally provides more resistance.

Before you start using a band, it’s important to make sure that the exercise that you are doing and the resistance level are right for you.

Amie, our physiotherapist can assess your movement and strength, recommend the right exercises for you, demonstrate the correct technique and progress your programme.

If you need any help or advice, get in touch by email or give us a call.

WE’RE OFFICIALLY OPEN! 💚

What an incredible opening day at AtWell Private GP & Health, Balsall Common!

Yesterday, we were delighted to welcome more than 150 people through our doors as the Mayor of Solihull officially opened AtWell.

The sun shone, the coffee and milkshakes flowed, there was ice cream, charcuterie and plenty for the children to do — while our GPs, physiotherapist and nursing team were on hand to meet local families and show everyone around our new clinic.

It was wonderful to see so many people from Balsall Common and the surrounding area, and we were delighted to be joined by both the Mayor of Solihull and the President of Balsall Common District Council for the occasion.

Dr Raj Atwell, co-founder, said:

“We’re delighted to be opening a practice in such a wonderful place as Balsall Common. We want AtWell to become a genuine part of this community, providing local people with high-quality, accessible healthcare when they need it.”

And now the doors are officially open, the doctor will see you now.

At AtWell, you can see an experienced GP without the unnecessary wait, with the time to properly discuss your concerns and a focus on continuity of care with a doctor who gets to know you.
