When you have to think outside the box.
A customer came in with an unusual horrid smell within the cab.
Most definitely ammonia.
Extremely hard to track down due to as soon as you opened the doors the smell disappeared.
Keep the doors closed for 5 mins 🤢🤢🤮🤮.
I was suspecting something decaying ( this can happen) rodents entering the interior air ducts etc.
However after removing various trims , blower motors, piping etc I couldn't find the source 🕵️🤦

After some brain storming and research I had a light bulb 💡 moment
Que the ammonia gas detector 🧑‍🎓🕵️

Source found but not what I expected.
The front passenger compartment is absolutely saturated in stagnant water 🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮
Next step is carpet removal dehumidifier then find out where and why 🕵️

It's jobs like these that make me proud to be different from other garages.
Test first , prove fault before any parts are fitting.🕵️
Abs sensors fitted but never needed.
Vehicle suffering from ongoing charging issues, replacement battery and alternator that was fitted but never needed.
Drivers airbag squib replaced as well as other various SRS related components, fault is actually water ingress into the module.

It's jobs like these why we offer an assessment rather than just a diagnostic plug in.

Here at prs auto services we love a challenge 😎
Here's a few pics of some recent diagnostic jobs we've had.
One vehicle had been to 3 different garages over a period of 12 months with parts replaced that didn't fix the fault. The vehicle was suffering from dpf issues caused by a turbo fault.
Customer was at their wits end and that's when we was recommended to take a look. Following are in-house diagnostic assessment the fault was soon found . Damaged and shorted wires , all repaired and no parts needed. Needless to say the customer is over the moon ☺️
We've had failed modules. Tpms faults , instrument cluster repairs to name a few.
