Welcome to the world, Alex โ€” you were so very worth the wait. โœจ

๐Ÿ’š WORLD SU***DE PREVENTION DAY | 10 SEPTEMBER

Today, on World Su***de Prevention Day, we are helping to shine a light on the importance of talking, listening and reaching out.

This yearโ€™s message, โ€œChanging the Narrative on Su***de,โ€ reminds us that conversations really do matter. A simple โ€œAre you okay?โ€, taking the time to listen, or helping someone find support can make a difference.

We are also proud to highlight the incredible work of PIPS Su***de Prevention Ireland, providing vital support to individuals and families across Northern Ireland.

๐Ÿ’š PIPS is also supporting the Bangor Business Awards 2026, celebrating the businesses, organisations and people at the heart of our local community.

As a Bangor business ourselves, we are delighted to support both messages โ€” celebrating our local community while remembering how important it is that we continue to look after the people within it.

Start the conversation. Check in. Listen. Be there. ๐Ÿ’š

And good luck to all of our fellow local businesses entering the Bangor Business Awards 2026! ๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿ’— SEPTEMBER -GYNAECOLOGICAL CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

There are 5 main types of gynaecological cancer โ€” ovarian, womb, cervical, vulval and vaginal.

Knowing your body and recognising when something has changed matters.

Symptoms that should not be ignored can include:

โ€ข Unusual or postmenopausal bleeding

โ€ข Persistent bloating or an increase in abdominal size

โ€ข Pelvic or lower abdominal pain

โ€ข Feeling full quickly or loss of appetite

โ€ข Changes in bladder or bowel habits

โ€ข Unusual vaginal discharge

At Ultrasound NI, pelvic ultrasound can help investigate many gynaecological symptoms by assessing the uterus, endometrium (womb lining) and ovaries.

Ultrasound plays an important part of investigating symptoms and identifying any abnormalities or issues that may need further assessment.

๐Ÿ’— Know your normal. Notice changes. Get symptoms checked.

If something does not feel right, please speak to your GP.

Private pelvic ultrasound is also available with us at Ultrasound NI by self-referral- Early investigation matters.

A mum who lost her son to testicular cancer after it was first thought to be an infection is warning others to "not take no for an answer" when getting tested.
Zac Summers-Cameron died from testicular cancer in November 2025, aged just 22.

He was coming to the end of his first year at university when he told his family he had a painful and swollen testicle alongside pain in his abdomen.

His family said that when he first went to the GP, he was initially told it was an infection and was treated with antibiotics in June 2024.

Nearly four months later, when Zac had finally been admitted to the hospital, the family found out he had stage three testicular cancer, which had already spread across his body. ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ˜ž

Stories like this are such an important reminder to listen to your body and never ignore a change that does not feel right.

If you notice a lump, swelling, change in size or shape, heaviness, discomfort or anything unusual with a testicle, please get it checked.

At Ultrasound NI, you can self-refer for a simple testicular ultrasound โ€” no GP referral is required. Our experienced medical sonographers can assess the area and provide you with your results.

๐Ÿ“ง Email [email protected] to arrange an appointment.

Early assessment matters. If something feels different, donโ€™t wait and donโ€™t feel embarrassed โ€” get it checked. ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ•บ When dancing is quite literally in your DNA! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿค

We could not stop laughing when this little one appeared to be twerking away on scan! ๐Ÿคญ๐Ÿ˜‚

Then Mum and Dad told us they both have a history of being professional dancersโ€ฆ and suddenly it all made sense! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ’ƒ

Looks like this little superstar might already be following in their footsteps โ€” starting the rehearsals before theyโ€™ve even arrived! ๐Ÿ‘ถโœจ

Definitely one of those scan moments that had the whole room smiling. ๐Ÿฅฐ
