The Brass Surgery is run by Richard Ashmore who has been a professional player for 30 years, 18 years of which has been as Principal Bass Trombone with the Ulster Orchestra (BBCNI). He has been fortunate enough to have toured extensively across the world with various bands and orchestras and has made Northern Ireland his home since 1999. He has been repairing and servicing brass instruments for 20

years and recently qualified officially as an instrument repairer. As an educator Richard has taught at every level from beginner to diploma and beyond, and from age 7 to well beyond 70! He has also run his own education outfit ‘Primary Music’ specialising in shows and workshops in schools and nurseries across the province. Richard is now translating his extensive knowledge and experience from performance into instrument repairs and tuition.

THE BRASS SURGERY IS OFFICIALLY OPEN!!

Hi everyone - I’m back!

Based in Bangor, Northern Ireland, I service and repair brass instruments as well as clarinets and saxophones

A great way to start was returning a freshly serviced alto saxophone to the lovely Hannah - a nightclub soloist with the stage name Saxxy Hannah. Check out her page, there are some great clips of her in action! (Hannah Afrifa)

Due to other commitments I have had to put The Brass Surgery on an extended holiday and will not be able to do repairs for a while. I do intend to reopen at some point later this year so please watch this space!
