In Memory of Martin Booth (Eddie) Tuesday 1st of September

We have been contacted by Newsome's Funeral Directors with the very sad news that Martin Booth (Eddie) has sadly passed away.

Eddie’s family have asked us to help spread the word and, if possible, get as many motorcycles as we can to give him the send-off he deserves. 🏍️🖤

📍 Meeting point:

⏰ Meeting time: Tuesday 1st of September 11:30am

The hearse, limousine and close family, accompanied by the bikes, will then travel to Rotherham Crematorium for the service at 12:30pm.

Eddie served in the Military for 25 years and was responsible for teaching military personnel to ride motorcycles. His passion for bikes was a huge part of his life.

Let’s come together as a biking community and show Eddie and his family just how much that passion meant. ❤️🏍️

Please share this and let’s get as many bikes there as possible to give Eddie the send-off he deserves.

In December 1979, we officially opened our new Funeral Home alongside the local clergy, the Newsome family, and Neil Asquith.

The opening was marked with a formal ceremony.

At the time, a young reporter named Martin Oxley, on his first assignment for the Barnsley Chronicle, attended and covered the event.

Over the years, we have had the privilege of arranging funerals for both Martin’s father and, more recently, his mother.

During this time, it came to light that Martin had kept a scrapbook from his early reporting days, which included several photographs from the opening of our Funeral Home.

Today we had the honour of celebrating a life with a beautiful splash of colour. 💖

Our funeral operatives, Mick Herring and Mick Senior, donned their pink ties to match the family’s wishes, adding a thoughtful touch to a truly personal farewell.

A touching moment at Newsome’s Wombwell recently, as a loyal family dog came to pay his last respects to someone he loved dearly.🐾

We know how important pets are in our lives, which is why dogs are always welcome at all our funeral homes throughout Barnsley, Rotherham and Pontefract.

They’re family, and they deserve the chance to say goodbye too.
