Balancing self-care...
Guess what we visited to do them all?

Sometimes self-care is simple.

This summer take advice from the snail.

Take things slow. Snail progress is still progress.

Carry only what matters to you. You already have everything you need. Comfort and security come from within.

Bravely come out of your shell. Come out of your comfort zone more. Let people appreciate your uniqueness.

Focus on the journey and not the destination. In times when productivity and speed are glorified, take a moment to fully experience every moment and every breath.

Enjoy the sunshine and spend more time in nature. Practise yoga outdoors. Meditate. Take it slow. Feel sunshine on your skin. Slow it right down so you can enjoy it more.

People say that pilates replaced yoga.

The thing is that yoga and pilates are like chalk and cheese.

Yoga can't be replaced by pilates. Yoga is never meant to be just a physical practice. Yoga was never meant to be a workout, but that's how it is often sold as.

It is much easier to see the results from attending pilates classes regularly. Pilates is a physical activity that delivers visible results that sell well in the new 'skinny' toned era.

Pilates might change how your body looks after few months. Yoga changes how you feel about your body after few months.

Pilates changes how you look. Yoga changes how you feel. That's a very big difference!

Yoga and pilates are both amazing disciplines and should be valued for what they truly are. One will never replace the other and they compliment each other.

Save this for next time you hear someone says pilates is the new yoga.

5 signs your body needs gentle movement not a sweaty workout at the gym.

1. Gentle movement builds nervous system safety.
Gym environment with loud pounding music and high intensity exercise is the last thing you need if you're bracing while already feeling overwhelmed and overstimulated.

2. You can't switch off.
Thoughts keep coming and body feels tense. 20min of gentle movement is more beneficial than 1h of overanalising and overthinking every single conversation

3. You're tired, but you can't sleep.
Your nervous system is overloaded. Your body is tense, but not tired - that is a very big difference! Gentle movement supports energy. It doesn't drain it. Movement can relieve tension in the body and can help with getting a restful sleep.

4. Everyone and everything irritates you.
Low tolerance to people is often a sign of burnout, unmanaged stress and sensory overload. Your whole body is tense as you try to hold it all together. Gentle movement can make you feel human again.

5. You feel heavy.
You feel heavy, but not ill or sad. Just heavy.
Your body is saying that you've not moved your body for too long. You need gentle movement to get you going again.

Gentle doesn't mean ineffective.

When your nervous system is overloaded, you need gentle movement that signals safety and switches on your 'rest and digest' body response.

Our seemingly "ordinary" choices are of great importance, it is worth considering them from time to time.

Massage needs to hurt to be effective.

I hear this all the time and is simply not true. Let's unpack this 'no pain, no gain' myth.

More pressure isn't always better. Sometimes it can be, but if you're asking your massage therapist to "go deeper," but you're not able to fully relax into that pressure, you might actually be working against your own body.

Deep tissue work involves strong and targeted pressure to access deep muscle layers. It should never trigger sharp and excruciating pain. When a massage treatment is overly intense, it can send your nervous system into a protective state of tension, causing your body to brace and your muscles to tighten.

Every body is different. What works for one person, may not be the best option for you. If your nervous system is on the edge you may not be able to fully relax into strong deep pressure.

The best results are achieved when working slowly, intentionally and consistently over a period of time. Working with sustainable pressure that doesn't trigger your body to brace.

Save this so you remember it next time you're looking to book a massage.

Welcome to my office!

It isn’t just four walls. It's much more than that.

It's a soft place to land.

Space where you can finally slow down and reconnect with your breath. Nourish the body and mind.

In a world full of chaos, I’m thankful to have the place that is your space away from it.

Have you visited yet?

I was told off by one of my clients the other day...

She said I don't talk enough about Myofascial Release (MFR). She said everyone should know I offer Myofascial Release treatments as it helped her enormously!

My client suffers from fibromyalgia, chronic inflammation and pain, and sluggish lymph flow.

MFR treatments are slow yet deeply therapeutic, and tailored to each individual, making it suitable for a wide range of clients, including those with chronic conditions or sensitivity to more vigorous massage techniques.

So what is fascia?

Fascia is connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, organs, and structures throughout the body. Myofascial Release works on a deeper level, releasing tension and restrictions within the fascia.

The chances are that you've already experienced elements of myofascial release if you already came to see me for a treatment, because all my massage treatments are bespoke. Myofascial release works very well in combination with massage and is very effective.

Would you like to find out more about the treatments I offer? Head to my website (link in bio) or send me a message today!
