Dear friends, followers and supporters,
Good morning.
I want to share something that is incredibly close to my heart.
In October 2008, when I was just 19 years old, my life changed forever. My seven-year-old sister woke me with some of the most horrifying words I have ever heard.
That moment, and everything that followed, shaped so much of the person I am today.
From that day forward, I made a promise to myself that I would never give up, and that wherever I could, I would support those who may be struggling — whatever that support might look like.
Over the years, I have contributed in many different ways, undertaken training to better support those affected by su***de, and continued to raise awareness of something that has touched my family so profoundly.
This weekend, I will be taking part in Stride Against Su***de alongside my sister and many others.
For me, this is far more than a walk. It is personal. It is about remembering those we have lost, standing beside those who are struggling, supporting the people left behind, and continuing to speak openly about su***de and su***de prevention.
Nearly 18 years later, that promise I made to myself at 19 still stands:
Never give up. And whenever possible, help somebody else to keep going too.
