Last week, two of our lovely residents enjoyed a fantastic holiday to the stunning seaside town of Whitby.

We certainly made the most of our time away, enjoying lots of delicious food, visiting the fascinating Whitby Lobster Hatchery, and getting plenty of steps in while exploring everything Whitby had to offer. ⛱️

Holidays like this are so much more than just a break away. They give our residents something exciting to look forward to, while also providing valuable opportunities to develop independence and life skills.

Our residents were involved in saving their money, deciding what they wanted to do, planning their activities and working out what they needed to pack. They were able to make their own choices and take ownership of their holiday from start to finish.

It absolutely melted my heart when Lizzie explained to me that the trip was all about Lee, yet throughout the day he kept asking if she was enjoying herself and making sure she was having a lovely time too. 🥺❤️

The Olympics have been postponed until tomorrow because it’s just soooo hot! ☀️😂

So, we’ve decided to make the most of this beautiful weather instead, hotdogs under the gazebo, a little paddle in the pool, and plenty of time relaxing with our gorgeous alpaca boys. 🌭🦙☀️ The staff also participated in Silly Shirt Day 😀

We’re conscious of the need to conserve water, so the hose is only being used where it’s genuinely needed for the alpacas. We’ve also only added a couple of buckets of water to the pool, just enough for a little paddle and to keep cool. 💦
