Happy to contribute to a story in the Belfast Telegraph about young people who have presented to A and E with Mental Health Crisis.
Young children as young as 5 needing mental health support is not shocking to us at all.
Within Tamhi Tackling Awareness of Mental Health Issues all the staff have in one way or another been affected by the trauma of the troubles.
During the 80s/90s and early 00s poverty existed, but things where affordable, community was supportive, people helped each other. Energy was not extortionate and it's been communicated many times by many people that society felt safer.
Fast forward to post COVID

There very rarely seems to be good news stories about anything working well?
Also there seems to be less opportunities for young people in the job market, definitely the housing market and this uncertainty contributes to worry and anxiety about the future.
So while all those born before 1998 may have intergenerational trauma of the troubles.
Those born let's say post 2000 and especially post 2020 will be affected by the intergenerational trauma of a failed society.
